Now, do we think this was a Parker signing, or an Alan Pace signing?

Re: Ashley Barnes
The chat with Parker after the Norwich game clearly had some semblance . He’s here , he knows the club, can only add to the leadership group within the squad .

If ‘supporters’ didn’t moan about any slightest bit of positive news then I wouldn’t have to moan at them

Re: Ashley Barnes
Add a couple of really good loans in for the wide ride and number 10 positions and we are looking alright . Loan out Hountondji and maybe get a promising young striker in from league 1? Who knows now after tonight

I’m ******* buzzing - is he the future? Obviously not, but sometimes a bit of nostalgia and a bit of passion can make all the difference.
Especially at Ewood Park.

delighted, I'd rather have Ashley giving his all with all his experience than pinning our hopes on a young lad - unless it's Haaland, then I'd prefer him !

Re: Ashley Barnes
Odd one given we’ve already got one 35 yo club cult hero up front.
Suppose there’s not much to lose for 6 months and the squad could do with another older head or two.

Honestly guys … Ashley Barnes is not the answer. Letting your heart rule your head. Cant see him playing much. Cant see him scoring the goals to get us promoted.

This could go either of two ways.
But as he has already achieved exalted beyond all normal legendary status the outcome with AB is largely irrelevant.

Re: Ashley Barnes
I don’t think supporters excitement is that he’s going to be a season changer, we still need other attacking players through the door this Jan but it’s a big lift around the club
Re: Ashley Barnes
I’m speechless , first thoughts why sign a 35 year old forward who’s done nothing since leaving. Not sure why but I’m warming to Barnes coming back to the club.

We’re not finished yet!
I might be putting two and two together, but wasn’t the Padiham Predator at Wednesday’s game as ‘half time guest’?
Make it happen, Alan.

Very disappointed. We need a really good striker that can score goals at this level. Not a 35 year old that has not played much in 18 months.

Re: Ashley Barnes
The striker position hasn’t really been the issue - chance creation has been the bigger problem, and hopefully something we’ll be looking to remedy both tactically and player-wise.
On a short term deal, it makes a lot of sense. He brings bags of experience, has obvious positive dressing room qualities and I think can pitch in more than Jay with this system.

Re: Ashley Barnes
To be fair, if he comes back and does some coaching it won't be a terrible signing.
Re: Ashley Barnes
Smacks to me of us not having the funds to do much else, and Pace knows this will appease the fans a bit.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Basher has scored six goals for Norwich in 31 starts. Last season three Norwich players hit double figures. Ash can chip in & has the potential capability to up the game of those around him.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Why are you very disappointed it’s such a strange take, who’s to say we aren’t looking for another striker or forward player. Pretty much every team in the league is looking for a striker that can score goals at the level

By 09.30 tomorrow he'll have dragged out Tresor by his hair and thrown him into the river at the training ground all being well.

I was one who was saddened that we let him go but he's back and hopefully can help us until the end of the season but does it all say we have no funds to buy a quality striker and we are desperate ..

I’ve just posted on the transfer rumours thread… my first thought was that Barnes returning makes me think a loan for Tella may be on the cards, far more than I believed when it was mooted a few months back.Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2025 11:52 pmI was one who was saddened that we let him go but he's back and hopefully can help us until the end of the season but does it all say we have no funds to buy a quality striker and we are desperate ..

Re: Ashley Barnes
Tella is getting games at Leverkusen (sub or otherwise) and scored the winner against Vinny’s Bayern the other week in the cup. If we go up I can see it in the summer, but not a prayer he’d come back to this league at the moment.

Re: Ashley Barnes
The main points to consider.
We were unlikely to sign at this stage a striker ready for the prem so a short term deal was the right option.
Most clubs would be happy with an experienced head with multiple promotions on there CV to help push them over the line.
And he hates bastards.

If you don’t think he’s going to make a difference why does it bother you so much to comment 8 times making the exact same point that you don’t think it’s a good deal, you are like 007 when he goes on about Parker

One thing's for sure. He'll make sure the boys are right up for it on Saturday afternoon. Welcome back Ash.
Re: Ashley Barnes
I don't know if he's the striker we need right now but he's someone I'd have in the trenches with me every week.
It's not often you feel like you've converted a player but I hope he considers Burnley his home forever.
Welcome back you absolute shithouse, we love you just as much as you love us. 0-1 Barnes on Saturday.

Re: Ashley Barnes
Great for us in the past. Not what I was hoping for on the pitch now unless he’s coming here to coach. We’ll be ringing up Ron Futcher next.
Re: Ashley Barnes
I extremely disappointed i expected a striker that will actually score goals. Bring Ash back as a coach. Motivation is dressing room yes for sure. But not a player.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2025 12:06 amIf you don’t think he’s going to make a difference why does it bother you so much to comment 8 times making the exact same point that you don’t think it’s a good deal, you are like 007 when he goes on about Parker
