Re: The playoffs it is
Starting to think we need to aim for second and hoping Leeds beat Sunderland and Sheff Utd in the next couple of games.

Sunderland lose tonight and they go 10 points behind Leeds, and 8 behind SU. Can’t see them overcoming that deficit.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:09 amStarting to think we need to aim for second and hoping Leeds beat Sunderland and Sheff Utd in the next couple of games.

Why Leeds?ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:09 amStarting to think we need to aim for second and hoping Leeds beat Sunderland and Sheff Utd in the next couple of games.
They aren't currently outperforming Sheff United.
Re: The playoffs it is
Leeds have to win both games and we need to win the next 3. Could look a bit different then.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:09 amStarting to think we need to aim for second and hoping Leeds beat Sunderland and Sheff Utd in the next couple of games.

Re: The playoffs it is
I don’t think I want to go up. I’d be quite happy losing the play off semi if it meant another season in the Championship
Re: The playoffs it is
Yep, totally agree. Frustration was the word from Saturday and still is.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 9:52 pmIf you look at the game in isolation then yes, a point at Deepdale isn’t to be sniffed at.
But in the context of this season, and the need to start turning these draws into wins, it is definitely 2 points dropped.
It is fine margins, but there is a lack of intent to go and win games late on- and with 11 0-0’s, nobody can argue otherwise.
It’s not an overreaction, but a frustration.
We have to put this right on Friday with a massive win !

Re: The playoffs it is
Same as Matttheclaret's response really. But I do find it amazing that Sheff U have amassed more points than Leeds (or equal if Leeds win tonight). Leeds look far better when you watch them. Suppose we just need one of them to drop off, not necessarily Sheff Utd.
Re: The playoffs it is
I too think its the play offs, simply because there is absolutely no evidence that we are going to turn our form round and take enough points to surpass Leeds or Sheff Utd. I don’t see this team winning 4 or 5 on the bounce to put real pressure on them. We are now playing catch up without the ability to string wins together.

Probably will be the play offs, but I don’t think this side has enough goals in it to actually win them.

It's the logical option.ArmchairDetective wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 9:09 amStarting to think we need to aim for second and hoping Leeds beat Sunderland and Sheff Utd in the next couple of games.

I still think we've more that a decent chance of second. I think Leeds win the league, but Sheffield United have been so fortunate to win the last few games...Their luck will desert them at the crucial time trust me, just as games start running out. The closer they get to the finishing line, the more pressure there is on the top 2..

It's looking more difficult for automatic with the Blades getting plenty of luck recently (both their last 2 opponents should have been out of sight at half time) but even if we land in the playoffs you wouldn't bet against us.

We are a better side than Sheffield Utd, we'll be above them after the next six games.

Re: The playoffs it is
Sheff Utd look to have the best run in, Leeds have it tough the next 4-6 games after that pretty straight forward.
We need to win our next 4 then see how the table looks but I'd say it's 70-80% nailed on for play offs for us

R*vers going up to the PL while we're still in the Championship next season would be even worse than all that.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 3:19 pmExactly..Could you imagine one of that lot waving the corner flag about like Flemming did, at our place,.or even worse Wembley!!. Re: The playoffs it is
I actually think it would do more damage than good if they went up. Yes they'd get a hefty pay day, but who knows how much their owners would pocket?ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2025 4:25 pmR*vers going up to the PL while we're still in the Championship next season would be even worse than all that.
They would also have to literally buy a new squad, as let's face it they haven't got a single player who'd get in any Premier League team at the minute, plus they've got so many players out of contract this year.
They'd have to pay stupid contracts, stupid wages and would 100% come back down, financially crippling them!!!
