I agree about needing a player like that but Rooney said our offer was laughable. Said that unless we offer stupid money the lad is going nowhere as they won't have time to find a replacement. If there had been any forward planning surely we would have used Obafemi as part of the deal and got it sorted weeks ago? I'd be delighted if it happened but I won't hold my breathe. The surprise of Pace singing Wout when Chris Wood went to Newcastle seems a long time ago and seemed a little bit unreal after Garlick's frugality in the transfer market. Will be interesting to see if he can pull a rabbit out of the hat and get the fans back on board. No incomings and he'll have to learn to live with the booing and sub 10000 crowds in the months ahead.burnley007 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 4:42 pmWe really need a player like Whittaker, I actually think we'll get him in by tomorrow, not sure why I'm so confident, but I think Parker really likes a goal scorer, (Foster has never been a goal scorer).

Is that OK, or will you still be booing in a few months?

I'll give him a chance too.........but so far he looks to have two left feet.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:04 pmI’ve read detailed reports on him from professional scouts including one who spent a full season scouting him. I think a lot of footballers get through the lower levels of football due to their physical attributes
Then they get to a level where players can compete with that and it becomes obvious that there not very good footballers or not at the level their physicality got them to

He does but referring to my post above Lukaka was the ultimate. Physical presence big, strong and fast enough to often not have to rely on skill
As he's getting older his skill is not at the level to compensate for physical decline
But he’s never been a bad player

The problem with Lukaku is you have to have a team around him. If the team is not set up to use him it doesn't work. I remember noticing this in his final days at Chelsea: play him right and he's unplayable; bypass him and he offers very little. Perhaps a bit like Haaland. Put Haaland in our team at Wolves and what could he do? I'd like us to try it though!BleedingClaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 6:00 pmHe does but referring to my post above Lukaka was the ultimate. Burnley, from the English 2nd division, made a loan offer to Grêmio for 19-year-old Nathan Fernandes.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:47 pmNathan Fernandes wasn’t one of the names was it, report on x saying we have had a loan bid rejected for the 19 year old
The English club did not propose any value for the loan, but rather a mandatory purchase clause if the Grêmio striker played 50% of the season's games. The values, in this case, would be 10 million euros + bonus.
The Grêmio leadership has already rejected the proposal.

I can’t tell whether this is tongue-in-cheek or not…..jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:24 pmIf Tresor is still here after the bell strikes then he needs a clean slate. He will know as much as anyone else that he’s been crap for us so far, but it’s a lower league and he’s got no weight of pressure on him. Who knows, he might be the saviour.
Either way, surely nobody actually believes that Tresor (or Benson for that matter) are going to knuckle down and put a shift in over the next few months?! Both will leave tomorrow. There’s never been anything more sure.
Therefore, we need to be replacing them before there’s not enough time left.

Comes across as a bit of a dodgy guy this Sacha Tavolieri. Appears to be trying to do the work of agents and manipulate moves. A lot of our players must have agents who are pally with him. I wonder how much he makes for each tweet he posts trying to stir things up?

I posted this earlier on the thread. He doesn't dream this up so someones telling him something. Amazing how he knows the ins and outs of the possible Wolves deal. I'm sure it's not coming from us - he's dangerous and it looks increasingly to me used by agents to stir things up.

That Sacha literally reported on benson and zaroury and since then he’s absolutely rinsed of the Burnley fans clamour for news, ‘any news Sacha?’ Or when he post an incoming link ‘Sacha is the goat’ very weird

Parker spoke really highly of Trafford today and suggested he wanted him to stay, I’d be annoyed at losing our number 1 keeper at this point. Hope they hold out for £25m+.

Parker didn't seem to expect him to leave. I agree, I'm guessing they've put a sizable price tag on him.

Notoriously known for not liking Alan Pace either after last season, so I don’t know why you all give him the time of day and all get so worked up about his transfer “exclusives”, he’s been playing the Club for past 2 week and everyone’s been bitingwilliamjblazkowicz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 6:26 pmComes across as a bit of a dodgy guy this Sacha Tavolieri. Think they've sold that many now there's less inclination to sell any more hence the lofty valuations placed. That said I wouldn't be at all surprised if a couple more ended up going with price drops & compromises. I don't think the figures would be as high for LK & JT if the window was starting & nobody else had shifted there's less need now & the financial pressures eased.

I'd sell Trafford provided we can get a suitable replacement in and don't make a loss. Too many fans will never get off his back here and I fear that will continue to effect him and his value may drop. Trouble is don't think it can be a loan replacement due to 5 in matchday squad rule as we still have attacking gaps to fill.

I don't think anyone has considered the effect of this on our pre-match playlist: "Hot Hot Hot", "Heartbeat" and "Seven Nation Army" all gone. "She's Electric" and "Just Can't Get Enough" likely to follow. Hope I don't have to delete "La Bamba" too.
