Re: Next manager
I think not wanting a manager that failed to get Derby promoted with one of the most expensive Championship budgets of all time, then well on his way to relegating Everton are legitimate football reasons.
Also it's another appointment that would have the club being referred to as "Frank Lampard's Burnley" - he isn't a Burnley manager for me one bit and I think that opinion is shared among the vast majority of the fanbase.

A 'basket case' team that Dyche has just returned 48 points with after having to sell more players? You know, the manager we once had?
I think your final sentence just shows your ignorance in all honesty, what's that supposed to mean? Punch down on fellow Clarets - good one.
There's a lot of knowledgable fans in our fan base - even go and look at stuff like the player ratings for the season and the consensus always ends up being pretty spot on. We know our football, there's fans of this great club that has quite literally seen it all.

But let’s give it a bit of context, Lampard spent 11m that season with Derby. In comparison to VK he spent around 40m and had a squad of players that had just spent 6 years in the prem.
I agree his time at Everton left a lot to be desired but I think there’s also a lot going on behind there scenes there that were mental. He still ended up with a PPG stats of 1. That was considerably higher VK achieved here in the prem.
He wouldn’t be my first choice but I also don’t think he should be totally dismissed.

VK sold to buy and the keh difference is that he/we romped the league... Frank finished 6th on 74 points, which is 2 points lower than we did in 08/09 with Coyle.

What do you mean by punch down? All I’m saying is that a lot of people don’t want Frank because of the man not the manager in my opinion. And let me make it clear, he wouldn’t be my choice either.

They done well to then lose 30m of their wage bill and pay for the 3 loan players

The point I was making is that it was an expensive squad assembled over the course of a few seasons and that for the latter part of Mel Morris' tenure they paid daft money for players and that Frank underwhelmed there.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 3:19 pmThats the wrong season. If Cooper, Moyes,Potter, are unlikely, then out of:
Robins, Lampard, Parker,
Rosenior,Still,Knutsen,Wicky,
Nistelrooy, Bellemy,
Corberan,Terry,
Lampard isn't looking too bad.

Re: Next manager
Management is a dark art. We've had 4 or 5 in my Burnley watching lifetime who have done inexplicably well but done nothing anywhere else.
And we've had managers who have failed and we've even had Eddie Howe who did ok but went on to be possibly the most highly regarded English manager currently working in the PL.
All the things that made VK great in the EFL like self belief, the ability to have a plan and expedite it. An unshakeable belief in the plan and the ability to communicate the plan worked really well in the Championship where he had the best players but became an achilles heel in the PL when the plan began to fail because he didn't have the best players. No point in having an unshakeable faith in a plan that is sh*te...!
You fancy a Moyes because he has experience but would Moyes cope with Pace or visa versa. I don't know it is hard to tell. And I don't fancy Lampard because I just think he needs to be an assistant manager for a while and learn his trade.

Was watching this video earlier and what I took from the video is how there is a learning curve in management and where a manager is less experienced, looking at historic performance is less predictable to determine the future ones.ClaretPete001 wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 3:50 pmManagement is a dark art. I just played that same game with ChatGPT. It seemed to search a few sites and come up with the names being touted now: Parker, Lampard, van Nistelrooy, Cooper, and Moyes! I asked for a more sexy appointment and it suggested Marco Bielsa and Roberto Martinez, haha.
