It's got to the point (and I feel badly about this) that I almost want us to lose because it will hasten Southgate's exit. Generational talent being wasted.

If he was Colombian he'd have been shot

Anyone still thinking that Kane can’t be dropped?
Why single him out after that insipid team and manager performance? Unless you are desperate to be proven right.

Team has a heap of issues but the guy who has like 70 goals for us isn’t one of them IMO. I’ll agree he’s not playing well, but that’s on the cretin in charge who hasn’t a clue how to get the best out of him like Spurs and then Bayern have done. Southgate is not getting anyone around him (Foden/Bellingham etc) to support so he looks so isolated and then gets frustrated and starts dropping deep and going wide just to try and get the ball.
Whole teams a total mess frankly - midfield the biggest misfire for me. Alexander-Arnold is about as much of a centre mid as David Edgar was and Declan Rice had probably the worst game I’ve ever seen him have. They were shocking.

Southgate needs binning now, not at the end of the tournament. It's embarrassing, wasting time 1-1 against Denmark instead of going for the win with one of the best squads at the tournament available.
Has that ever happened out of curiosity, a country sacking its manager in the group stage when top of the group?

Maybe it was a barbed comment about the reception they were getting as the game wore on and then at the final whistle.
Justifiably…I might add.

Form players in the squad
Bellingham
Gordon
Palmer
Mainoo
Wharton
He’s nullifying one and refusing to play the other four.
Southgate is a once in a generation clown of a manager.

The ex England commentary and punditry are the best England performances so far. Nail on head, Southgate the main problem, as they imply, and Kane is a big problem. Jude anonymous as a 10. Needs to be an 8 with Foden 10 and Gordon wide at 11.
This looks so obviously a “so nearly” tournament, even more so than the last 2 finals. I’m furious with him.

You're right, bar Scotland in that opening game, that's the worst team performance of the tournament so far.
Arguably worse than Scotland because Germany are a far better side than Denmark and hit Scotland quickly earkybon. We went in front and handed the game back ona plate.

After watching AA in midfield I feel like ringing the alternate AA myself because it is driving me to drink.
Really does make no sense. A bit like playing Vitinho left back one week and right wing the next.

Kane, Bellingham, Foden, Rice, Arnold, Saka, Tripper have all had brilliant seasons for their clubs. Then they turn up for England and something has sucked all the energy, pace, positivity, creativity and enthusiasm out of them. It can only be the manager and the tactics.
PS. Credit to Denmark who are actually a more than decent side and absolutely no push over.

Southgate is too weak and risk averse. There's a wealth of young talent that could both handle the situation and play with energy and excitement. But he's too dyed in the wool to be bold enough to allow it.
I'm not disappointed with the display as my expectations were not high to begin with.

We are experimenting with TAA in the middle
We dont have a kelvin philips in midfield at the moment

For a team that seems to want to pass out from the back, we very often resort to the goalkeeper lumping it upfield when a defender who hasn't the skill to pick a pass ends up passing back to the keeper.
You then have a 50/50 situation when the defender is favourite because he's facing the ball.
I don't think our guys work hard enough. When we have the ball or not.
I agree it's not really a team, to me just a collection of individuals..
We've been playing like this throughout the Southgate era.

Southgate interview clear he wants a 2nd defending midfielder like Phillips, he cannot trust Bellingham in that role.
Feels like neglect of a major talent because no way Bellingham is a 10. He needs to burst into that position from deep rather than being up there all the time. Otherwise we get both Kane and Bellingham dropping deeper than the role demands.
Poor old Lineker and co are virtually begging for Foden to be moved inside.

No, what's obvious are two dysfunctional performances with multiple players underperforming underpinned by poor management. Hopefully we'll get better - it's quite common for a successful team to start slow in the finals.

Yes, and saying one of the midfield (was it Gallagher?) was an experiment.
Why can't we go into a tournament with a settled format?
Sorry, it was TAA not Gallagher

Can’t agree here, Bellingham has played there all season in an unbelievable season for Madrid. Next to Rice wouldn’t make us any better, you need a controller in there, someone who can receive the ball in tight areas, turn and play through the lines… we’ve got a couple of them on the bench.

Yep, feels like that experiment will be coming to an end sooner rather than later. Wonder if the next bright idea will be to stick a winger or striker at CM? He can't possibly play a CM at CM, too obvious.
