If we get a towering centre half to partner Esteve it may allow Worrall to go on loan or move permanently. Ekdal is a competent back up, and Humphreys provides cover at CH but more importantly cover and competition for Hartman who looked exposed today. WE really do have a bloated squad
Isn't Worral a towering CH?

I'd still keep Worrell over Ekdal if it came to that (I don't expect either to leave). We need leaders like Worrell to get us through this season. Sometimes personally and leadership makes up for ability.

We need another midfielder 100% and the club obviously feel that too, I think we’ll get one whether it’s Luis or not we will see. In terms of CB Worrall is nowhere near the standard, get one in on loan and let him go out and play some football if there’s any takers.

If we were linked with Mikautadze, you’ve got to think that we’re in for another forward….

Centre half, midfielder (hopefully Luis) and another forward/number 10 required - 3 players. All need to be better than we currently have. No need for squad fillers - we’ve got a big enough squad already!

You might describe him as towering-hes probably the best aerial attacker of a ball that we have. However he is relatively slow for the PL and will get exposed relatively easy, and he is not to the mobility requirements of the PL either which is why he was not making the squad at Forest at a time they were in the bottom section of the PL.Also you never see him carrying the ball forwards. I think he is good cover but if played in the PL for 90 minutes will get seriously exposed

Lucas Paquetá going to Villa from West Ham. West Ham could be in serious trouble if they don't sign anyone next two days.

It wasn’t all on Ekdal for the second goal. Bruun Larsen was really poor before it got to Ekdal.
he needs to switch on pronto, he let the Sunderland player walk in for that early chance last week

We should have gone for Tanganga. He was brilliant today for Sheff Utd.

The guy who broke the Luis story saying it's a done deal, but he's going to play for Benfica today, which is strange.

No way would we accept him playing today if he is signing for us, if he got injured very little time to start signing someone else.

Not necessarily. Last year the Sarmiento deal was agreed but he still played for Brighton before signing the next day

I don’t think he’s been starting in the league for them this season, so I doubt he’ll actually play.

Not seen much of him, but lets hope he is match ready soon, but I believe most of his games at Ipswich were at RB

Equally comfortable at both but I’d hazard a guess we see him as a right sided cb. I was very impressed in his short appearance at Shrewsbury and he was highly regarded at Ipswich.

Keeping him fit is obviously key but I can see him as a key player for us this season and if fit certainly ahead of worrall and Ekdal in the pecking order.

Allowing a potential club record signing to play tonight if a deal is fully agreed doesn’t seem right to me. Eze didn’t play for Palace on the night a deal was agreed with Arsenal last week. Hopefully he’s correct saying the deal is done, but not on the last bit.

He's 6ft 1inch - Not exactly a towering centre half - especially with the physical freaks that are in the Prem

6’1 / 6’2 isn’t short but he’s an imposing ‘unit’ and certainly wouldn’t be bullied.

Relevant to the thread as I wouldn’t expect an incoming cb unless it’s a young talent to be developed over time.

Hi CaptainClaret,

No, I don't think there were any links.

I posted that he might have been a good loan despite only being 18. However, he's gone to the club where his brother is.

Exactly. It’s the same as if a fan of another club asked us about one of our players who was almost definitely leaving. We would hardly give glowing references unless it was one of our best players.

Just look at the reviews in here after we found out Egan-Riley wasn’t going to be staying
Ekdal and Foster were shIte until recently.

Good news this. Will allow us to play different formations even more now in certain situations.

Being greedy tomorrow - Luis in, plus a CB and a number 8/10?

Try and get a few out on loan? - Benson, Churlinov, Obafemi, Delcroix

I have no idea whether he is any good or not; a little like many on here.

I want to congratulate the recruitment team for learning from our mistakes under VK. We've moved for men rather than boys. The elusive CM/DM enforcer that we ignored has been heavily promoted for the last 2 years. FL appears to meet this criterion. If so, then I'm all in.

Looks like an incredibly busy day. The window this year closes at 7pm too.
I quite like watching deadline day, especially since Jim White left Sky Sports.

The only problem I can think of is that we will lose pretty much everyone if we go down.

Is there anything more perfect on deadline weekend than a flight tracker?
God I'm loving this!! 😎

Not worth worrying about for now.

Just enjoy the ride as best as we can, despite playing in the most corrupt league in England.
