If we could get £12m-£15m for Brownhill (if he is refusing to sign a new contract),£3m-£5m for Charlie and lets say £2m loan fees for Jack & Jay combined (as I dont think anyone will buy them, but could both help serios Championship sides) then thats £17m -£22m that could go to Bakayako. Know its made to sound easy but the current regime at the club has yet to show any success in being able to promote players for sale yet and this provides a good opportunity. We know VK is holding money back for a proper goal scorer . Lets just do it

Brownhill is 8 to 10 million at best and Taylor maybe 6 to 8 to Leeds, Bastien and two or three more could bring in another say 8 million we'd have the money for Bakayako and his wages

At that price we should be all over this player
You really think we should be all over archer at 18m? I really don’t see it in him especially with our style of play. Sheff united did the same with Brewster a few years ago

Chatting to a Villa fan yesterday, he said he was a natural goalscorer, but a bit of an old fashioned number 9, not really used in the modern style of play. I'd rather have Zeki!

No doubted his talent from time at Preston and Boro but at both loans he seemed to play with someone alongside him

Archer had a great loan at PNE and then a brilliant loan at Boro, but the comparison with Brewster is an interesting one. They’re both of similar smallish stature so aren’t suited to a Barnes-type role leading the line, and both like to play on the last line of defence and aren’t that comfortable dropping into midfield.

Obviously Sheff U fans will hope he turns out nothing like Brewster who has been an unmitigated disaster for them.

Would come down to PSV beating Rangers and qualifying for the Champions League both for player and club? He would surely want to stay at PSV for Champions League experience and from the club point of view, the revenues generated by Champions League Group Stage or Europa League Group Stage will determine whether PSV need to sell or not this summer.
The Dutch league is worthless compared to the prem. Even the Championship is probably better than the Dutch first division.

If you see him play he's too big for them already. By the way I'm hoping Rangers make it so that our chances to get Bakayoko go up.

If you want to extend that analogy you could say the same about Amdouni, who appears at first blush your traditional second striker in a 442 rather than lone striker. Which is really the point about Archer. That being said Archer's CV suggests he's perhaps more likely to be an instant hit at this level than Amdouni and Sheff U do have some options for the less glamorous good up role up top. If they get Archer this they'll feel quite well placed up front.

Burnley are amongst the clubs interested in acquiring the signature of Fiorentina forward Christian Kouame, and I think he's played under Kompany at Anderlecht

Cameron Archer having a medical at Sheff U - £18.5m
Villa getting some exceptional value from essentially their U21s. Just shows the importance of getting younger players out on loan at a decent level.

I think Amdouni is more suited to a deeper role than you give him credit for. I recall the friendly at Mainz where VK brought him on and played him in a right sided 8 role and he really looked the part. He regularly dropped below the half-way line, linked play, and made runs (with and without the ball) into the final third. Against City, he was being played as the furthest forward central player, so naturally the system didn't allow him to showcase that.

I do agree though that Archer may well hit the ground running faster, and Sheff Utd are suddenly looking a lot more equipped for the season ahead.

I wouldn't say 1 goal per 3 games for Celtic was prolific, bearing in mind that they play 9/10ths of their games against teams that belong in a lower division.

That is one of the most bizarre football stories I've read in a fair while. I don't think it will be the last odd story from that part of the footballing world.

Even weirder given the Saudi League average attendances are akin to our National League. I don’t think we’re talking Italian Ultra levels of fan opposition.

The issue with Archer is he appears to be a flat track bully, scoring loads against lower division teams, e.g. for Villa in the EFL Cup and for Villa U21 in the EFL trophy. He is quick, so straight away is a threat at that level. In the PL, almost everyone is quick, and those that are not (e.g. Mee) are savvy.

There is then the fear when defending (which SUFC will do a lot) if he will look a bit lost.

So I think we need a different type of player, and personally I’m happier with Andouni, notwithstanding we probably need one more up front.

Could Jota join Newcastle on a free ?

Be almost like the Saudis paying a Newcastle transfer fee, they could parade before the Saudis play their next national games at Newcastle.

Even though The Saudi state is nothing to do with Newcastle though

I read the other day in a BBC article that in Saudi Arabia it is not the clubs who do the deals but the league itself, then once a deal has been agreed with a selling club to the league, a buying club within Saudi Arabia can buy the player from the league. A bizarre concept.

More on Renato Veiga (taken from TurfCast twitter from Record - Portugal):

‘It’s now claimed that even though Veiga has an offer from Basel, Burnley ‘showed up’ willing to offer those £5.5m.

this offer would be bigger than Basel’s, with the Clarets also having the advantage of offering him the chance of playing in the Premier League.

The problem is that Burnley haven’t made their bid official yet, and Sporting are now waiting for that. The whole story makes it sound like that first reported offer was never formal and most likely verbal.

Veiga is said to be waiting for the Lions to agree his sale and sign for whoever buys him. And right now, it seems an offer from the Clarets could put an end to this story.‘

Seems a lot for a player who was signed for about a quarter of that 12 months

This sounds weird as well, plus he is old at 29 :D

Wouldn’t baulk at Batsuayi. Still only 29, but adds a bit of physicality and experience to the squad. Kompany would know him well too.

We were linked with him earlier this summer.

VK knows him better than me so if he is happy then fair enough but personally not overly thrilled about the thought of MB being our new forward. Would have hoped for better or at least younger as he has never really impressed me much.

Batsuayi would be a good signing. Plenty of domestic experience, he’s a got a good presence about him, and will be well known to VK.

Okay he’s never scored loads in the Prem but we don’t necessarily need our central striker to. The ability to lead the line with some nous and skill is just as important.

Batschuayi has 15 goals in the Prem, a goal every 150 minutes (came off the bench a lot) which seems pretty decent. Would be a good signing imo.

Batshuayi would be an excellent signing for us.

(Would also test my silly theory that we're keeping hold of the 23 shirt for Tella because Batshuayi has worn it almost everywhere he's been.)

Batshuayi and Lukaku are both great strikers, you don't play for Belgium if you're not. But they both need teams that play to their strengths in order to be successful. Both have struggled to some extent because of this in the prem.
VK will know him well enough to know whether our style will suit his strengths, so if vk wants him, it's a no brainer.

When I hear the name Batsuayi I tend to think cows arse and banjo`s , personally thought he was overated and absolute crap at both Chelsea and Palace, would sooner use the money towards buying Tella if not this window then in the New Year.

Short clip from Bakayoko vs Glasgow Rangers yesterday where he gave 2 assists. The guy looks ready to demolish the Premier League. Together with Doku and Lavia probably the best young lads Belgium currently has to offer.

If there's even a slim chance, and Sacha Tavolieri said he was most interested in signing for Burnley, we should do whatever we can to real him in. This guy could make an incredible difference for Burnley. He's a danger for the opponents defence. Can take out players with ease with his speed and dribbling. Good crosses and powerful shot at goal.

Dutch analysts were saying it's crazy for him to go to Liverpool. Too soon they said. Hopefully he feels the same way. Burnley would be a great step forward and we could really use him as Benson isn't fit to play 90 minutes. We can't count on guys like Koleosho Redmond and Bruun Larsen as our nr 1 pick for the wings. Zaroury could start but Benson would mostly be a luxury sub.

Anyway this guy has an immense resale value, if he just keeps on playing like he does now, the sky is the limit. We can get anywhere from 50 to 150 for a player like that.
Yes it is a short clip, but Bakayoko seem to have a lot of involvement and no shortage of pace and skill.
Yes please Mr Pace. 👍

We currently have Foster, Jay and to a lesser extent (more of a false 9/second striker) Amdouni that can play that role.

We all love Jay but Batshuyai is undoubtedly an improvement over Jay in that position right now, it really is that simple.

I’d somehow love Lukaku on loan, I could be absolutely off my head here but there’s no better way for him to get fit and firing for a year leading up to the Euros.

Never gonna turn my nose up at getting a quality goalscorer but I'd like to see us pick up at least one more centre back and a couple more wingers before we start splashing our cash on a striker

Thomas Meunièr to leave Dortmund on a free. Not a link but always thought he was a decent player and at 31 will be a decent addition for someone .

When I hear the name Batsuayi I tend to think cows arse and banjo`s , personally thought he was overated and absolute crap at both Chelsea and Palace, would sooner use the money towards buying Tella if not this window then in the New Year.
27 in 51 for the Belgian National team, 29 in 62 for Marseille, 7 in 10 for Dortmund. 12 in 19 for Fenerbahçe last season.

He did well at Palace during his first loan there, 5 in 11 games. His second spell there didn’t quite work out.

He was never given a run at Chelsea, impossible to judge really.

The striker role at Chelsea has seem a bit of a poisoned chalice, since Drogba. Plenty of big names who haven’t really delivered the sort of numbers they’d expect.

He has said no and usually when it’s a case he doesn’t know he says ‘ask the person who wrote it’

Jack Clarke has signed today - £12m

I searched, couldn't find anything so if it's already out there, sorry.

Where has this come from? Nothing on it anywhere.
