if Swansea and Hull were going to stay up, then they both had to win today.
We need forty points, which wasn't the case before kick off!

Re: Today's games
These results for Hull and Swansea could be fantastic for us - could be worth a couple of million quid extra if we finish above Watford and Stoke which is very possible. Keeps us focused too.

Likewise, Hull's away for is worse than ours and they've got Spurs at home on the last day.

He's pretty incredible tbh, not lost a home league game in 3 years I think. They play some wonderful stuff too, without the quality of players we have. Not being negative Spijed, just stating that we need 40 points.
If we can't get that from the remaining five games, then we are going to be relying on Hull and Swansea messing up.

Re: Today's games
I agree with you, KRBFC. I've always liked it when Burnley have a strong passing game. At present it is the weakest aspect of our team. Some of the greatest goals Burnley have scored have been at the end of a move including multiple great passes. Others have been from free kicks and corners.KRBFC wrote:He's pretty incredible tbh, not lost a home league game in 3 years I think. Still, however Burnley have been playing this season we are in the Premier League - and will be again next season.

Silva's been there two minutes compared to Dyche's 4 years. Silva was on a hiding to nothing, he took over the weakest side in the league by a country mile, problems with the owners which is why Bruce resigned and they were already in the doo doo. At one point, Hull were struggling to name 11 fit senior first team players. The transformation since he took over has been incredible, his recruitment top notch all while playing nice football. Since he took over there are not many sides who have taken more points than Hull. If he keeps them up, manager of the season for me, no doubt about it.Spijed wrote:So why is their away form worse than ours?

Hi Vegas, we beat ManU at the Turf in 2009 and they were lucky not to lose in 2014.Vegas Claret wrote:Given the week they've had and the players they have missing we'll never have a better chance
Yes, playing 120 mins on Thursday evening, plus loss of Zlatan and others with injuries makes their unbeaten run vulnerable.

You'd choose him as manager of the season over Dyche?KRBFC wrote:Silva's been there two minutes compared to Dyche's 4 years. I know you've got it in for Dyche, but I didn't realise how much until just now.
Re: Today's games
Yes absolutely, we had the strongest group of players hence winning the title last year. Silva has won far more points since taking over with a worse squad who were doomed when he took the job. Dyche has had 4 years to shape the squad and a hell of a lot of money.Sidney1st wrote:You'd choose him as manager of the season over Dyche?

Re: Today's games
Not about Dyche, he was never going to be manager of the season anyhow. Silva's short-term achievements at Hull, given the circumstances under which he started, are phenomenal. and if he keeps Hull up I think it's fair to say that he would be a better shout for manager of the season than SD (but I'd give it to Pochettino (sp?) .Sidney1st wrote:You'd choose him as manager of the season over Dyche?

Re: Today's games
Silva has been very special - apparently Hull's owners deferred from appointing him in the summer because they were worried about a fans backlash - by Jan they had to do something - Still think he is auditioning for a bigger role - would be fascinated to see what he could do with Arsenal - pace is something they have in buckets, his ability to organise the team could make them awesome
Re: Today's games
Dyche criticised for our away performances so why not Silva?
Re: Today's games
I don't know the exact numbers but I saw a table of points won since he took over. He was close to the top four. Maybe someone could post that table... Dyche has had five years to mould a team, he's had close to 2 full seasons to experience PL away games yet he still has no grasp on it. 1 win every 12 away game I believe his PL away record is.Spijed wrote:Why? Re: Today's games
We're 5 points clear and Swansea have Manchester United and Everton next. They'll lose both of those and we'll need one win or two draws.
Re: Today's games
One draw surely? Barring a 15 (or at least 17 if you count their two predicted losses) goal swing.
Re: Today's games
I don't think its clueless to suggest we have a better group of players than Hull. We won the title last year, they were promoted via the play offs. Imagine if Grosicki or Markovic were playing for us, they would be sh**e as second fullbacks. Silva allows his players to express themselves offensively, they pass with a purpose and are calm in possession. Brady would be flying under Silva, Gray would be scoring for fun. Some on here were telling me you need Barcelona standard players to pass a ball and retain possession, its just good coaching and confidence. Coyle had it here, an average bunch of players over performing hugely.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Clueless.

6 points away from the relegation zone with a game in hand. Definitely time to panic.
Re: Today's games
Since Hull City have signed 17 players since the end of last season, 11 of them from teams in the top division of England, France, Holland, Portugal, or Italy, I'm not quite clear why their form in last season's Championship is relevant?KRBFC wrote:I don't think its clueless to suggest we have a better group of players than Hull. Its really quite amusing to read it sometimes.
Coyle motivated an average bunch of players, but by that logic Dyche has done the same.

Re: Today's games
I wouldn't call our current crop an average bunch, not even close to the tosh we had under Coyle. I think you're getting confused and presuming so let me clear this up. I have praised Silva, why does that mean I have it in for Dyche? I don't understand why I'm not allowed to want my team to pass the ball and play abit. Do I have to be delighted because we've won a few games with a negative approach and hideous football? After the disgusting style served up by Cotterill, I said I never wanted to see that again. I could understand why Cotterill was playing that way though, he had Michael Duff as an emergency centre forward not a £10M striker.Sidney1st wrote:You really do have it in for Dyche.
