Hipsters hating hipsters for not being hipster enough - but secretly liking it because others being less hipster makes them more hipster.

Must be my age but I enjoyed the Jacksons, like going back to the days of my youth. Not seen much but also enjoyed Liam Gallagher, Foofighters & Pretenders.Wile E Coyote wrote:jacksons......just meaningless pap, it isn't anything is it?

Absolute nonsense. Music today is probably as good or as bad as it's ever been. It might just be that you have to look a bit harder.Wile E Coyote wrote:everything is a swamp of unoriginality, no class at all on display, corporate rock for sales reps and camp followers.

Couldn't agree more but it's in the electronic / hip hop scenes which p!sses me off as I was brought up on good guitar music and imo there's just a miniscule amount of good stuff around these days.Squarepusher wrote:Absolute nonsense. Barry Gibb is excellent.
Staying alive is one of those songs everyone knows.
Well done to the staff all dancing along at the front.

Re: Glastonbury
Its for people like Gibb that its worth going to Glasto.
The time I went I watched Van Morrison and it was a great show.
I'd never really listened to him before, but it was well worth a watch/listen etc.
Same with someone like Gibb, a proper artist /legend.

Class is permanent, as the saying goes.
There's no denying that he (and his brothers, god bless them) were a class act.

Re: Glastonbury
Barry Gibb been great - Bee Gees were unique and as said above wrote so many classics.
Just showed all 4 brothers on the screen - Barry only one alive now....very sad.
Very strange to think they were from Manchester

Re: Glastonbury
Chic brilliant -
Nile Rodgers cool as **** - now he has written a few hits !
Nile Rodgers produced Bowie's Lets Dance album and played on Serious Moonlight Tour - which I was very fortunate to see back in 1983 and still to this day the best live show I have ever seen by some distance

Just tuned in to watch him - I'm a drummer and even I can tell that his guitar is a bit off.
Mind you, it matches his singing.

Loop pedal
He records as he plays, then loops it and plays over it.

If anybody has tried using a loop pedal you'll know how bloody hard it is. God knows how he manages it whilst playing the guitar and singing. He's not my cup of tea but fair play to him.

Ableton can squash loops to same length and keep pitch on the fly as other kit can - he also has soundmen to mix / balance tracks.
I'm also pretty sure the stageside soundman does some of the "channel muting" also.

Re: Glastonbury
That Corbyn chap was sh1he. No vocals no guitar and if that was a white man rap then I for one am stunned at his attempt to be a white London socialists version of Dizee Rascal. In fact it was offensive. What next Teresa May blacking up and singing Swanny ?

Well, I'm lounging in a field ready to head back and the festival was typically brilliant. Flaming Lips and Speakman Sounds were standout performances but for me the real joy is in the festival itself, we've seen some completely bonkers stuff. Such a varied few days with great company and a few ciders. What's not to love?
