I can - I think I saw him play there once in a reserve game and he was clearly ill equipped to play in that position. I'm impressed people are asking ABC when he's seen Long play right back.
This is the person who recommended Edgar and Tarkowski for defensive midfield without seeing much of them playing at centre back, never mind midfield.

A while back he also suggested Ben Mee for a defensive midfield role

Difference is Mee had experience of playing centre back when he was captain of Man City's cup winning youth team.Devils_Advocate wrote:A while back a lot of the happy clappers on here scoffed at the idea of dropping Duff and moving Mee to centre half and look how that turned out

You are either suggesting SD takes notice of my ideas, or that he has similar thoughts Sidney because he used both as holding midfielders.

Ben Mee was always a centre back playing out of position at left back.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
No it didn't Abc.
Mee was doing a good job at left back, plus he wasn't going to dislodge what was a good centre back partnership unless there was an injury etc.
Same with Keane having to wait for his chance.
You're just trying to insinuate Dyche didn't have a clue what he was doing and took to long to make a change that's actually worked well.
If he'd move Mee and Mee had been a disaster you would've been on here castigating Dyche for moving a player who was doing well at left back.
Yes you are that predictable...

Bardsley is older than Ward, age is irrelevant, Ronaldo is the same age I think. Bardsley is over the hill, Ronaldo isn't. I cant believe fans aren't allowed to be critical of us potentially signing Phil Bardsley, laughable. I was critical of us signing Sordell, Juke and Reid at the time and was labelled a negative bore and shut down. Was I negative or realistic? The way it turned out I had every right to be critical.SparkyClaret wrote:Isn't he younger than Ward?

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
So a 32 year old is 'over the hill' is he? He is clearly an upgrade on Darikwa who is a terrible footballer and has spent most of his career in the PL.
I would be happy to add him to the squad and would be a lot more comfortable with him playing at full back should Lowton get injured, than TD, who is a liability.
Sign him on.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
You still don't get it./ Who is stopping you being critical of the signing? This board for over a year has provided fans with a platform to be as critical of the club as they want, and you have certainly taken advantage of that right. You have slagged the club off more than anyone else on the board. Plenty of people have told you that they disagree with you, but that's a far different thing from not being allowed to do it.KRBFC wrote:I cant believe fans aren't allowed to be critical of us potentially signing Phil Bardsley, laughable.
Put it simply: a poster is allowed to post garbage. Other posters are allowed to point out that it's garbage.

Is anyone going to point out to KRBFC that Stoke have a better right back as first choice in Glen Johnson?
Or would that be ignored to suit his foot stamping agenda?

Where have I said he's great?
When you can find that comment let me know, but in the meantime I'll give you my actual point of view and not your made up one.
Personally I'd rather we signed someone else BUT he is an upgrade on Darikwa.
Lowton is a good solid full back for us and replacing him would be both harsh and difficult.
If Bardsley was to join it would be as 2nd choice but I'd have no qualms about him stepping into the first choice spot if Lowton was injured or banned.

A moot point. Little less aggressive in his approach maybe? Finding more and more incredibly sweeping statements on this board, though.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
I watched that Star Sixes recently, six aside pitch. 20 minute games with rotating subs. Roberto Carlos couldn't last 5 minutes, all his experience and medals didnt help his body to perform. Why is that? Also you say Mark Hughes rates him, then why would he sell him for less than £2M?Burt wrote:"crap at football" "I think he's rubbish" So who is right, Mark Hughes ( 15 games last season ) or Sean Dyche or you.........cos they both believed/believe he can do a job in the Premier League?

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
Where did I say I wouldn't accept it if he signed? Id have no choice, ill support which ever 11 steps out onto the field. I didn't like the Michael Ricketts signing, I still loved it when he scored on his debut. I hated the fact we bought Juke, I still supported him and desperately wanted him to score.Sidney1st wrote:I'd also accept it if he signed, you wouldn't.
