got to be said, for a club with known trouble makers, who were known to be travelling over for the game the security does seem to have been overlooked somewhat. They won't be coming back that's for sure. I Hope the club send them a bill for the seats, the tarpaulin, the policing and whatever other costs we have incurred.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Hannover 69 oops!
Sadly the policing and stewarding was abysmal today ..with visiting supporters being allowed to do what they wanted ..a few token attempts at arresting Germans prior to the match was met with them just shrugging off the police officers and laughing at them..the omens weren't good as the early arrivals in the CFS . Wanted to hang their flags on the metal safety barrier at the front which for some reason the stewards were adamant about not doing ..these were the sensible fans and it clearly aggravated them..the hardcore arrived just before kick off carrying their beer and smoking in the stand then taking down the sheeting keeping fans from the pitch as nothing was done ..the police then virtually gave up standing at the front . then late in the first half a large number of the visiting fans charged towards the Clarets fans in the CFS ripping seats up..the decision to clear the CFS was probably the first one the police and stewards ground authorities got right. sadly it will be our clubs name and fans which will be tarnished

Any Burnley fans involved by taunting the Germans by chanting about the war deserve a season long ban. Same for those shown on video to be aggressively gesticulating. Our Club will now receive a huge amount of negative publicity.
If the decision to allow Burnley fans into the Cricket field stand is reversed, well you brought it on yourselves. Kn@bs

"sadly it will be our clubs name and fans which will be tarnished" not sure why that should be so. The 5Live report seemed pretty clear about the Hannover fans being responsible. It's Hannover who UEFA will give an almighty bollocking to, not us.

What a fiasco. 350 Hanover fans max ran Lancashire constabulary ragged.
If that have had been English fans in any European country they would have been dealt with brutally.
Euro cops would have ran in and given the Germans a right good hiding, what our lot do is just stand there and take a good hiding, pathetic

Not being in the Schengen zone (thank God) I hope the police will get passport details and photos that they can cross reference with CCTV and get the main scumbags banged up before they can leave the country.
I'm not in any way tolerant of our fans crude banter, which I can imagine was about wars and cups today. I detest it. However, I think most Germans understand the reasons much of the world gives them such stick even 70 years later, and anybody suggesting our fans are in any way to blame for today's trouble needs to get in the real world. This bunch appear to be hardcore criminals of the type you see following some clubs in Germany, Russia and others.
I'm just glad I didn't take my 5 year old on her first match today, which I nearly did.

Re: Re: Mighty Clarets versus Hannover 69 oops!
Certainly Burnley fans where doing the bomber arm movements and the war chants, but I'm sure most Germans are perfectly used to that by now. Its not big, and its not clever, but it doesn't normally result in a blitzkreig across the cricket field.
Would really like to know why it all kicked off, and went so bad so quickly.

No, it had to be sad. Our Club's reputation will be tarnished. A few Burnley fans were involved. Other Burnley fans were on Twitter saying "give it a rest" (referring to the war references).Barry_Chuckle wrote:Wow...... ever wished you'd not wrote something and pressed send?![]()

LANCASTER Like a lot of football matches their are boundaries for behaviour ..fans test these rightly or wrongly and can escalate behaviour unless reigned in by fellow fans or the authorities sadly their was none of either today ..the match commander and whoever plans the match day stewarding got it hopelessly wrong that is not absolving the real culprits which was the hardcore element of Hannover fans

Clueless idiots. Our police from what I witnessed today have turned into a bunch of political correct namby pansies. What has really p1ssed me off is how this lost 45 minutes will have affected Dyches plans for next season. Change of tactics positions personel etc etc.

That's the whole point. They knew full well the chances of being arrested and charged were minimal. The Dutch hooligans who are banned from attending domestic matches go abroad to get their "pleasure".
