Some on here think he's pap.
Others on here (including myself) are delighted.
That'll save you wading through the reams of squabbling between the above two camps on this thread and elsewhere.

Thanks for those replies. Personally, I think that would be a great signing. A player with extensive Premier League experience at a pretty good age with plenty still to give hopefully. That's cheered me up no end.

Should be a great signing gives us much needed pace on the wing. Plenty of great premier league experience and know how!

Interesting to see his wages
Re: Aaron Lennon
We have come a very long way from when our best players signed for low order second division (championship) teams and then it was the odd ones like Davis x 2 O'Connell Biggins. I think there are about 9 exclarets in the Prem and 11 in the Championship

Decent player but we are building a squad of nearly players who's best days are behind them, not an exciting signing.

Do you know him well then?lifelongclaret wrote:I don’t want to put a downer on this signing, but SD often speaks about players fitting in and core values, the new signing should fit in and understand the ethos and structure of the group,
Arron Lennon doesn’t strike me as that type, I don’t think we could sell him on in a few years time for a profit, I haven’t seen him exactly setting Goodson on fire, I’m sorry but along with N WELLS, I think this could turn out to be a poor signing

Re: Aaron Lennon
Tosh. Even including Lennon, here will be only 3 members of our best team who are over 30, and one of those is a goalkeeper. Mee, Tarkowski, Taylor (succession planning for the other 30 something right there), Hendrick, JBG, Nkoudou, Wood all coming into their prime. The rest of the squad are bangin their prime.ablueclaret wrote:Decent player but we are building a squad of nearly players who's best days are behind them, not an exciting signing.
Lennon maybe beyond his prime, but in his prime he was an England regular. He's an excellent signing who pushes us forwards in the next 18 months. I can't see how anyone can see it as a negative. Just don't get it.

Not seen the whole thread but I think it’s a positive sign that we are attracting decent players to the club. He’s no-world better but the guy has over 300 Premier League apps and will bring lot of experience to the side.

Spot on. I'm really looking forward to seeing Cork and in particular Defour feeding a winger who has 28 international caps for England and the realistic prospect of more. That's a remarkable thing.claptrappers_union wrote:Not seen the whole thread but I think it’s a positive sign that we are attracting decent players to the club. Two players in a week who are "nearly good enough for Tottenham". Oh woe. Oh despair. I would prefer to have signed Harry Kane, but there it is. This is very good news. Real quality player, got speed, very direct and very good delivery. Starting to look very good in this window. Any way, I'm off to shave my eye brow. UTC
Re: Aaron Lennon
It's pretty remarkable that Aaron Lennon is actually signing for Burnley regardless of how much he has left in his legs. I think we should really push the boat out and talk Kaka out of retirement just so I can buy a Burnley shirt with Kaka on the back.

Re: Aaron Lennon
Obviously this success will all be decided by the extent his problems are behind him, so it is a calculated risk, but just the sort we should be targeting and exciting to watch. Nice to see Dyche recognises our atrocious goals scored figure needs to improve despite our fantastic league position.

Saxo ... to be fair ur on a decent run but let’s be fair ... in a league of absolute dross that only makes u average at best!
Anyway people questioning this signing are deluded ...do u remember where we have come from ? Sit back , relax and watch us pass 50 points .
P.s
Saxo I hope u get to the play off final , equalise in the last minute and get beat 11-10 on pens . Then go under!
Sweet dreams pal .

I'm delighted with the signing if only that it deems us unlikely, fingers crossed, to sign James McLean. Certainly gives SD more options and will add a dimension to our play that's been lacking.
