Yes there have been converts etc, but it's still more of a race than Islam or Christianity.
Not really. You keep saying it but the study you pointed at as proof doesn't support that (and the authors even point out that the genetic link between Jews of disparate geographic regions does not constitute a race).

There may be more genetic similarity between the "core" (whatever that means, it appears to be a self-selecting sample to make the theory work) of those practising Judaism (although it is still quite disparate between different groups) but that doesn't make them a race.

Sigh.

Ok it doesn't make them a race despite being the only ethno-religious group that's recognised as such.

So long as you're happy with it, then I am too.

Maybe we're getting at the same thing here with different terminology (I'm mainly taking an interest as I work in a largely Jewish firm and have been chatting about it). They're an ethno-religious group which isn't the same as a race but can be treated similarly in terms of UK legislation. Arguably the same legislation could be applied to smaller sects of Islam or Christianity (it hasn't been tested legally yet) but not the religion as a whole, they're just too large.

Interestingly this first came up when a Jewish school was done for racial discrimination against a Jewish pupil rather than any form of antisemitism.

They're not the only religion which are recognised as such in the UK though, Sikhs are the same.
