Our tactics are as lamentable as SDs.

Re: England v India 2nd test (Lords)
I think Kohli should have declared by now, to ensure that England would at least have a go at winning.
As it is now, England will need four an over to win. Root won't go for it.

England still have time to collapse in response to this total....

Yeah, no point doing it after. You’ll just waste overs.

Can't see any chance of us chasing this. Sibley 8 n.o. at close of play I reckon.

The whole performance today has been abysmal. Bowling, captaincy, tactics and now the batting.

Commentator just said it's the first time ever both England openers have been dismissed for ducks in a home test match, that's some record to achieve.

37% of Burns and Sibley’s opening partnerships haven’t made it past the second over, wow.

10 England openers dismissed in a calendar year without troubling the scorers. An unenviable and unwanted record...

Going to be more time wasting than an average Premier League game here.

Just a very stark warning as to what will happen in Australia if some of these players are chosen to tour.

Look on the bright side - they won't get Covid because they never catch anything, and they won't get food poisoning because they never get the runs.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 3:24 pmJust a very stark warning as to what will happen in Australia if some of these players are chosen to tour.

If Bairstow is a test batsman, then I'm a Yorhshire man. Having said that he fits in well with this lot: Root apart there is not a decent cover drive amongst them.

I think Root should consider his position as captain, he is a very good batsman but not a captain. A new set of eyes, ears and a cricket brain is needed.Who? I do not know, it is a problem.

An abject day’s cricket by England, as to Root’s captaincy there is no-one else!

Who would you pick? There's nobody else worthy of a regular spot in the team, let alone the captaincy.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 4:12 pmOutstanding batsman but he’s a really really poor captain.
There were some very senior players out there this morning, including Jimmy who should have had a big say in that passage of play, which ultimately will cost England the match..

Roots not a bad captain. He just doesn’t have anything to work with. He needs at least 3 more top order batsmen and probably a couple of bowlers with archer out and with Jimmy’s age.

Re: England v India 2nd test (Lords)
Our top three is a major worry, I can see Joe Root calling it a day as captain after the Ashes tour. Another thumping series loss might be a bridge too far for him. Knowing our system they'll probably burden Stokes with it.

Can’t see that. Who takes it over? They definitely won’t give it to stokes now. Root should hold it for at least a couple of years. Hopefully we find a couple of good batters in that time.

The problem is, where do we find them, now that red ball County Cricket has been effectively downgraded by being pushed to the beginning and end of the season?Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Mon Aug 16, 2021 4:33 pmHopefully we find a couple of good batters in that time.

King pair for Curran and England 90/7
Re: England v India 2nd test (Lords)
There’s a case for around 5 of them to be dropped for the next match. Curran being one of them. Not sure who for though…

Re: England v India 2nd test (Lords)
Curran is simply not a test match standard player. Wouldn’t get near the squad as a bowler or a batter so why is he there. Sprays some shite down leg side and then slogs a few.
