Absolutely astonishing.

France remind me of the German teams of old. Just always finding a way to stay in the game.

Can’t stand both the Argies or French but you’ve got to be pleased for Messi to finally get his hands on the big one and emulate Maradona.

Think some of the pundits are going OTT. Rio Ferdinand “ one day I’ll be able to tell my grandchildren I was there” Get over yourself it’s only a bloody football match.

What? Have they dug George Best up. Did you see the pitches, and heavy balls? And the hard tackles?

Exactly....impossible to compare era's, Messi trudging through inches of mud kicking a wet ball made of leather with defenders kicking lumps out of him !

I'm flicking between ITV and BBC . ITV look and sound like they're celebrating Argentina's victory. BBC seem to mourning France's loss.

Anyway I'm delighted for Messi - The People's Champion and a humble football genius. Just fabulous.

None of the pundits were saying what an honour it was to be there at halftime and “best final ever”.

Up until the 80 minutes mark France had barely registered a shot on target.

Wrongo still getting the BBC digs in even during a WC final, admirable commitment to the cause.

What a game of football. Buzzing beyond belief for Messi. Richly deserved. Better side in a thrilling game. Messi, Di Maria, De Paul, Mac Allister, Alvarez and Martinez have had superb tournaments. A blend of all the sorts of grit, graft and glamour you need to win a World Cup.

Lionel Messi. The best to ever do it.
