Going to be a nightmare for the City game
Maybe we should pull a Luton and get the game postponed! Better still, just give us the 3-0 defeat now and we’ll be on our way!

They’ll just have to cut the sweeping vistas of Yorkshire Street they usually include in their coverage.

Maybe now in our newfound image they can pan to various Church spires in and around the town….

The Famous Shop on Yorkshire Street is called so because of the wall-to-wall coverage that area gets.
The only reason Kompany agreed to become manager was because he wanted to see Balti King in the flesh, and he couldn't contain his excitement when the chauffeur who picked him up was from Kings. He'd practically grown up with them on his TV every day.

It's closed to traffic, isn't it? So there'll be more walking room than usual.

They have been clearing the road this morning, so looks like there should be adequate width for pedestrians. Think the biggest issue will be the Wellington junction.
The bit from Plumbe Street to the lights was still open to traffic.

Having driven past there yesterday I’d say they’ll be lucky if they have it all finished this side of 2024, and I genuinely think that. It’s a mess, and the past 3 times I’ve gone past there now during normal working hours there has been nothing going on. No workers, no activity.
£6m? It sounds like there are some huge margins in there for it to be taking so long, or the contract isn’t watertight and dragging it out incurs more costs as opposed to penalties. Other than force majeure, it should be strict deadlines or penalties incurred which scale up the longer it takes.

Looks like a decent job to me …… quality materials and workmanship. If it takes longer to finish than anticipated ( and that’s an if ) then so be it as it’s all about the end product .I’m certainly impressed so far despite the disruption ….. you can’t make an omelette without cracking eggs ….

The bottleneck coming off the Turf just before walking under the culvert back to town was actually quite dangerous.

People were short cutting across the remains of the roundabout on Sunday after the match, then trying to cross onto St. James' Street dodging the traffic coming down Centenary Way.

You would think at least they would remove or amend the signs that say it will take 6 weeks starting June 5th.

Widening the pavement at the Bob lord side has actually made less room for home fans to walk on before and after the games.

Harry Potts Way is always closed to vehicles on match day I think 2 hours before kick off.

No, keep the sign there. It shows what a joke this has become.
When I can, I now go out of the way to avoid the gridlock, and haven't been into the town centre shopping centre for weeks. I wonder how much footfall has been lost...

Penalty clauses aren't allowed in most contracts. You can have liquidated damage clauses, however these need to be a genuine pre-estimate of the loss that will be incurred as a result of the delayed completion. Not sure how you would ascertain or calculate that loss in this instance?

Loss of profits for the businesses directly affected for a start.

If they aren't a direct party to the contract, I doubt that they can calculate LADs on that basis.

I don't know if already mentioned, but each time I drive round the 'roundabout' I notice that the matrix signs don't spell 'aqueduct' correctly.
Minor annoyance but the pedant in me is crying every time I see it.
See also: the road sign stating 'Harry Pots' is closed.

Open one direction from roundabout towards turf at minute. It had been closed earlier in the week. Progress looks slow, I've driven down 10mins ago and walked down three times this week.

They haven't a clue how to do rolling do roadworks. Far too much of Yorkshire Street being cordoned off at the same time. Belvedere Road amd Todmorden Road still down to one lane at the junction just so the temporary lights can be in place.

6 million quid does seem excessive to widen a few paths and take out a roundabout that was never a problem, unless I'm missing something. Not to mention the disruption its caused for months on end.
