Apart from highlighting the French police's murderous, racist tendencies to a worldwide audience, Clovious.

Re: France riots
its extremley worrying that the economic news hasn't improved at all since that *budget*Clovius Boofus wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 8:51 amWell, I condemn both. Also, just think what would have happened to the markets if Horned Helmet Man had won the day and the US was no longer a democracy? We'd all be in the shite along with our pension pots. Money looks for safe homes when there's chaos. This is why our own financial markets started to tank when Mad Liz and Krazy Kwarteng launched their disastrous budget.
As for France, there's hardly any political or popular support for the rioters. In fact, relations between the rest of France and the people involve in the destruction couldn't be any worse than they are today. The riots have achieved nothing apart from alienating the communities even further.
It suggests that our economic issues are far worse than everyone feared sadly

French riots: French-Algerian youth Nahel M. endangered cyclist and pedestrian before being shot by police, has long criminal history.

Well, on here, and in the wider right wing press have said that the 17yr old had only himself to blame for not stopping when he was instructed to do so by the police.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 8:17 amWhy do you think this is the case (if at all it is)
Yet, when Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot in the Capitol riots the narrative seemed to be that the police overreacted, despite her being told on a number of occasions to stand back.

How many on here are doing that ?
If you read right wing news outlets are you really surprised you are reading right wing views ? I find it is better not to read such nonsense

Badditt had served in the military in Afghanistan, Iraq etc her killing was deemed as lawful.
Nahel M had a long history of offending and the officer who shot him is charged with murder.
Strange world we live in.

Why is it strange & what has serving in the military got anything to do with whether you cause trouble or not?
In the UK, If you try to break into the Houses of Parliament, for example, regardless of any military career, and ignore repeated warnings the police will most likely open fire, like they have done with any recent terror attack.
This is why I'm saying the narrative is different.
For some reason, storming the Capitol building in Washington wasn't, for some at least, seen as that bad and the likes of Ashli Babbitt has been held up as a hero, whereas a 17year old in France deserved all he got.
