My family who live in north wales have no political agenda. They are both in the police so are going to work at various times of the day and night with their shift patterns and also driving to incidents, arrests etc.
From what they are saying the new limit is slowing things down noticeably and it’s not gone down well with the vast majority of the public who have to live with it day by day.
Tourists, politicians, environmentalists etc of course may have different and perfectly valid views.
The increased travel times may also improve and this may be teething problems with people getting used to it but right now it is causing issues.
Hopefully the Welsh government will have a period of assessment and then listen to all the feedback, review data and take stock before deciding whether to continue. If the real benefits outweigh the downsides then it will just become part of daily life as all these things do.

Re: 20 MPH in Wales
When LTNs and 20mph zones came in near me the protests were mental (quite literally with some of the right wing crazies turning up at some of them) and there were predictions of dire consequences in terms of traffic jams (as if there hadn't been jams every day before that) and the Labour councillors (who had introduced it) getting soundly beaten at the next elections.
Then everyone gradually forgot about it, elections went fine for labour and it's just the way it is now.
There is one road where, if all the lights are in my favour and traffic is quiet, the 20mph limit might cost about 30 seconds but that is rare.

Aye, why bother holding an election, eh?
Re: 20 MPH in Wales
In a similar vein, in the most recent by-elections the party who has been supporting abolishing these LTNs has lost very heavily. I suspect when elections come round only a few people really care.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2023 8:26 pmSo the go back petition is.

The phrase, "Is anyone back yet?" Comes to mind!
