I want the Argies to win, as I did Germany, simply because I want to see the best players in the world playing.
If England are going to do anything in this competition then we need to be able to beat the best teams regardless.

So at some point we can hopefully put the fat druggy tw@t into and early grave by stuffing them at some point in this tournament...

You're a better person than me. I wanted Germany and the Argies to lose and go home. And feel the pain! But yes we do need to face the big teams at some point.BurnleyFC wrote:I want the Argies to win, as I did Germany, simply because I want to see the best players in the world playing.

Anyone who wanted Iceland to qualify wanted Argentina to win. Unless they're bad at maths.
Anyway, they didn't.

Re: World cup thread
Croatia the better side but Iceland had three clear cut chances to score so a bit disappointing that our man couldn’t go through to the knock outs.
Gudmunson played the whole game and seemed injury free at the end so that’s good for Burnley.

It would be nice to see Maradona banned from attending the matches though. He is extremely offensive to the eye and spoils the games somewhat.

Yes once an ass always an ass.

An Argentina draw and a three goal Iceland win would have seen Iceland qualify on goal differenceImploding Turtle wrote:Anyone who wanted Iceland to qualify wanted Argentina to win. Unless they're bad at maths.

Apply probability theory. Which was more likely, an Argentina and Iceland 1 goal win, or a 3 goal Iceland win and an Argentina draw?martin_p wrote:An Argentina draw and a three goal Iceland win would have seen Iceland qualify on goal difference

Hoping for another close finale to the group, but fully expect Germany to ease past South Korea.

Re: World cup thread
I'd imagine so yeah.
Re: World cup thread
Does anybody know why a Germany win by 2 goals will send them through regardless of the Sweden result?
Re: World cup thread
Because of maths.KRBFC wrote:Does anybody know why a Germany win by 2 goals will send them through regardless of the Sweden result?
A two goal win guarantees they finish above one of Sweden or Mexico.

Makes sense for some reason I thought Germany drew the last game against Sweden.Tall Paul wrote:Because of maths.

Re: World cup thread
This may be of interest to someone:
A friend of ours has 2 tickets in a corporate box for the England v Belgium game Thur 28th June. He paid £500 each including flights but he didn't realise when he bought them months ago that it was going to be the same day as his wedding! If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place.
It's at Portsmouth Road Registry Office, at 4pm. Her name is Louise -- she's 5'4", about 8 stone, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook.

Re: World cup thread
A more then tidy half from the South Koreans but we know how German teams seem to come out on top, like to see the Koreans snatch it though.
Anyone watching the other game if so how’s it been?

Hernandez controlled the ball with his arm, deliberately. No penalty.FactualFrank wrote:Looks like Sweden should have had a penalty.
Previously we've had a couple of corners bounce off defenders while they were jumping. Penalties.
It's worth all the delays and confusion to make sure we get these big calls wrong.

On a side note I was in Düsseldorf to watch Arctic Monkeys last night. Pockets of English singing Footballs coming home in between songs. The germans disn’t half laugh!

Jonathan Pearce describing Germany, "laboured, predictable, inaccurate". Funny, that's exactly how I'd describe his commentary.

So Germany still only need to score once? As it'll put them ahead of Mexico.

The Koreans look knackered, poor decision making, Son was never a dive.
The Germans look like they've never even seen a football before.
Germany to win 1-0. Put your house on it.
