Fortunately we are better than them on the pitch though

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that we pay less than most, but with big bonuses?

Chelsea signed Matic's replacement in Bakayoko.

Steven Defour for £7.5M and Jack Cork for £10M look like insanely good business in comparison....!

We got Cork for 8 m rising to 10m
Is Clucas 12 m better ?
I think Slutski has been talking to Roman too much

Ridiculous fee.
I would rather see us gamble going foreign than even entertain thinking that sheer averageness such as Sam Clucas and Chris Wood should cost us the best part of £40m for the pair.

Slutski is desperate to keep hold of him as they have sold all their other players. No surprise.
Any established footballer in the prem will be earning upwards of 40k a week. Unless they have been released and no others want them we will have to at least match that.
This is why we are being linked with championship and foreign players. It costs to shop in the premier league.

Shows they are willing to sell.
Just a matter of agreeing a fee I would think now.

Anyone is willing to sell at the right price. But what they have done is slap a price on him way more than he's worth making it win/win for them.

Swansea's interest means we wouldn't be getting him for much less than the £20m quoted. Hull will just trade off both clubs against each other.
Hull know that Swansea have got the £45m Sigurdsson fee, and we've got the £48m Keane and Gray fees sloshing around, and don't want to sell. They're in a strong position, and I think we should move on. He's not a central defender, fast winger or fast/clever forward, so no loss.

Replacement for Marney perhaps?
How much would you pay now for what Dean has given us? I'd say £20m isnt far wrong. I'd rather £20m on Clucas than Wood by a hop, skip and a jump over Elland Road all the way to the KC!

£10m was his top value .Hull are just taking.the pxxx.We should have got him at the same time as we signed Darwikwa from Chesterfield but we didn't do we move on.
Jon Swift at Reading ex Chelsea looks useful and can play wide or cm

Clucas or Wood will not be coming here unless the players themselves try and force their club to sell. Neither club wants or needs to sell so are pricing them out of the market which is their right. Time to move on otherwise we'll end up with no more signings. I'm not convinced that there is any substance to the current rumours about overseas players.

Basically the club have confirmed that Clucas is for sale- they just want to make the price an eye popping one.
You have to wonder how Leonid Slutsky feels about this. The supermarket is not yet closed and the shelves are looking very bare right now. He's going to be the manager who gets blamed for the food shortages soon enough....will he hang around?

I wouldn't go above £10m for Clucas as I simply don't think he'll make the team!! The midfield three of Cork, Hendrick and Defour will take some shifting by Westwood, Marney or anyone else who comes in. £10m for a benchwarmer is too much. I'd rather put the money into a top class winger, centre half or striker who'll make a difference to the team.

Let Swansea spend their riches on him.
I applaud our stance on fees where players of this calibre, Clucas, Woods, have a particular value.

Hull at doing exactly what they should do if they don't want to sell a player - telling potential suitors that if they want him, they'll have to pay way over the odds. Not taking the p!55, just good business. I like what I've seen of Clucas, but not sure we should be paying that.

Don't understand this 'good potential' tag that Clucas has got?
Going 27 in September, only been in the Hull side for 2 years and didn't exactly set the Championship or Premier League alight...and for £20m we can do a lot better.
Jack Cork, who was 28 just gone when we signed him, has had 5 or so years of BPL experience in sides staying in the league and we got him for half the price!

Is Clucas worth more than Maguire or Robertson, I don't think so. They've been selling players all summer. So can't understand why they'd stop now. Whatever the reason, I wouldn't pay that much for him, I don't think anyone else would either, and I hope the club wouldn't.

Sky reporting Snodgrass is available for transfer. Not sure whether we'd still be interested in him if our other targets are to be believed. But would fit the Dyche framework.

I hope they get him, vastly overrated and not what we need. Our midfield is stocked, we ckuld do with another winger (which, despite some on here saying he is, he isn't). At 10m in this market, I would go with it but more than that would be an absokute joke.
Saw Clucas many times in League One for Chesterfield and he just about stood out in their team, but not on the wing.

Or maybe we should have taken a bit of a gamble and bought him whilst he was at Chesterfield ? Maybe in prefernce to Darikwa ?
I'd like to see us take one or two more gambles on younger players generally.

But if he was pulling up any trees at Chesterfield the perhaps more clubs might have shown interest in him. Obviously he wasn't on the radar of many clubs.

It's hard to judge.
I saw a lot of that Chesterfield side and the best player they had was Sam Morsy. Clucas and Darikwa stepped up to be in Premier League squads, whereas Morsy has scuttled around lower Champ/upper League One.
It shows that scouting isn't as easy as you might think.

I think Swansea are probably more desperate to sign Clucas than we are - they have just lost by far their best player and have a very big wedge burning a hole in their back pocket.
Even if we decide to push to £15m I think they will continue to outbid us.
Even in this inflated market from what I have seen he's not worth more than Brady or Jeff.....£12m or £13m tops. If we get him I'd be happy - if we don't no biggie as long as we do get 2 or 3 of our other targets.
We are trying our best to spend big money to improve the squad - so all good by me.
I'll be glad when transfer window is over so we can just crack on with the games - interrupted of course by numerous boring international breaks !

I didn't expect Clucas to be available for anything less than £15m, to be honest. If we had serious interest in him then that's what we'd expect to pay, surely.
A player like Clucas isn't a priority though, so perfectly happy for us to leave this one.

Since PSG started paying obscene sums for players, every club is trying to get crazy prices for their players. I really don't anything about Clucas but £20m seems a hell of a lot of money to me. Same goes for Wood. I wouldn't pay any more than £12m for him.
