Yes such as Brentford.arise_sir_charge wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 8:03 amThat’s a bit of a simplistic view. Other clubs trade well these days.
Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
Appalling decision to sell an obvious super centre back, for pennies, after Stoke's deductions.
These owners are addet stripping in a fire sale and buying potential. Potential doesn't get promoted.
(I typed that so I hope I am proved very wrong!)

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
People praised Trippier for signing a deal that meant he was sold for about £3m, a player that went on the World Cup semis and a Euro final, plus won La Liga. Collins plays about 20 games, came as a young defender wanting to play in the Premier League and we have made about £8m from him.
Pace can get all the grief he wants for this deal, if he buys and sells like this we'll be okay.

Another poster to accuse the club of asset stripping without actually knowing its meaning. I hope the mods continue to delete this kind of comment.IanMcL wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 1:44 pmAppalling decision to sell an obvious super centre back, for pennies, after Stoke's deductions.

Imagine the back tracking by the ill informed posters if legal action began against some of the accusations made towards the current and previous owners

Where do you think we made 8m profit from?JTClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 1:49 pmPeople praised Trippier for signing a deal that meant he was sold for about £3m, a player that went on the World Cup semis and a Euro final, plus won La Liga. I know it's what info you have read and believe, with nobody knowing the true figures, but that seems very high an estimate.

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
were a small town club and always will be, our catchment appeal will never grow drastically regardless who the owner/owners are. With the parachute payments its disappointing particularly when the ultimate goal for all the 3 relegated teams will be to try and bounce back 1st time that we could not have kept some of the players that have been sold. There's been no multi sales of Norwich or Watfords best/better players to date and lets face it there's been no interest in any of our average players just the ones we thought there would be.
But when you know that your best player is leaving plus followed by the club captain and a international goalkeeper and throw in a new manager and a new club template in style and tactics that was always going to take a huge overall. Considering also the age of the squad ingoings and outgoings are essential but lets be frank 75% of our incomings are not proven in the championship never mind in the ultimate goal of returning to the top league. Our lack of wealth and spending power could be the ultimate stumbling block as once the parachute payments stop then every championship year our best performing players will be up for sale but at least if you know the rules as supporters its fair enough.
Regardless of beliefs/theories/rumours there was 7 players we ideally would not like to lose Pope, Mee, Taylor, Collins, Cornet, Tarks (no choice) and because of relegation McNeill - 4/7 have gone with links against 2 of the remaining 3, but that cannot be a surprise to any Burnley supporter really just the apparent lack of determination to keep any of them.

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
if you look at the majority of deals across Europe it's only the BIG teams paying silly fees, most seem to be between 10-25 million. Barcelona want 20 for Depay, Forest trying to get Toffolo and O'Brien out of Huddersfield for around 12 million. It does look to me dare I say a slightly "cheaper" market for the majority. SO with that in mind the fee for Collins isn't terrible

We made a profit of around 6.5m I would have thought after Stoke got there cut

Updates from the Athletic this morning re. the sale
- no release clause
- late interest from a big 6 club
- Collins wanted PL football
- we wanted the cash to allow VK to continue the rebuild
- believed to be performance related add ons

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
Collins was always at best a 2 year situation with us. He'd have been gone next year because he is that good.
We are doing something I have never seen us do as a Burnley fan. The pull we have with VK in charge is amazing and the players we're getting, whilst a lot may be "unproven" they have potential both in terms of their playing ability to get us promoted and their resale value.

Again, disappointed in Collins demanding Premier League football.
He could’ve had a full season of Premier League football with us but for his idiotic decision making in the final game.
Ah well, **** him.

The article also stated that if he'd stayed then his total transfer fee paid to Stoke by us, if all add-ons were met would've been £19 million

Wolves had been scouting/monitoring him for 3 yrs too.

Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
Stoke must be gutted with our relegation, they could have had another 6.5m in add one, plus a bigger sell on slice if we could have kept him and sold him in a years time.
Re: ARTICLE: Collins departs for Wolves after one year at Burnley
Collins will probably be on £70-80k a week at Wolves and maybe £30k a week at Burnley.
What would you do?
