I still don’t think it was a Dyche signing.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:18 pmWas a strange replacement for Wood in the circumstances, without altering our style to accommodate the swap…

Re: NED vs ARG
Ironic that it’s Dycheball that has so rattled the Argies.
Agree though he isn’t suited to it.
The Premier League was a bit tougher than this though, the defenders in this game are good but not the big tough style we get in the PL every week. Still not convinced Wout would excel in the PL but done great tonight.

Isn’t Martinez a PL player? Hasn’t Otimendi played in the PL? Is the GK a PL player?CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:21 pmIronic that it’s Dycheball that has so rattled the Argies.

Where wout is concerned, a lot of fans who were wrong about him not being good, are just too stubborn to admit they were wrong.

Being super tall didn't immediately make him Peter van Crouch
Re: NED vs ARG
Yup. Argentina are playing a defender who is literally two inches taller than Messi.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:21 pmThe Premier League was a bit tougher than this though, the defenders in this game are good but not the big tough style we get in the PL every week.

I think Crosspool's general point is sound. PL defenders are generally bigger and stronger on a week-to-week basis than this lot.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:23 pmIsn’t Martinez a PL player? Hasn’t Otimendi played in the PL? Is the GK a PL player?

Can’t speak for others, but yeah I’ll say I was wrong about him. Never too stubborn to hold my hands up if my opinion has altered.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:23 pmIsn’t Martinez a PL player? Hasn’t Otimendi played in the PL? Is the GK a PL player?

I think that’s as much for me about seeing such a new/different style at Burnley though and how a player like Weghorst can fit into it as anything the player himself has done, if that makes sense. I don’t think he’d ever suit Dyche’s system - but Kompany’s I think he would excel in (at this current level for us anyway, for sure).

What I do know is that he wasn't suited to us and how we played at the time.
His attitude was disliked.

7pm kick off and the first half of ET ends at 9.23pm. What is going on?
As an old fart I can remember when the Saturday 3pm kick offs were on the teleprinter from 4.40

I'm pretty sure Dyche didn't have much to do with the Cornet or Weghorst signings.

The Dutch just need to get to pens now.
Ref is trying to give the game to Messi.
Ref is trying to give the game to Messi.
Re: NED vs ARG
Dutch had Argies rattled, unable to control the ball and on the ropes. Now they've just reverted back to the slow boring pass around defence crap.

Re: NED vs ARG
I think Argentina resorting to sh!t house tactics and parking the bus far too early in the game played a huge part in Netherland’s come back to be fair.
Re: NED vs ARG
He was coached in Dycheball by the best Dycheball coach in the premier league for half a season so he'll be more suited to it than the rest of the Netherlands teamCrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Fri Dec 09, 2022 9:21 pmIronic that it’s Dycheball that has so rattled the Argies.

Re: NED vs ARG
At the end of normal time I thought Argentina have no one to blame but themselves due to them trying to hold onto the lead.
Now Netherlands will have no one to blame but themselves for going back to the boring, slow, passing style.

I’ve not heard Pearce wax lyrical about an individual perfomance like Messi’s since Matilda’s semi final win in 2001.
