You’d probably think twice about a car plus four people trip to Florida for your hols though.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jun 19, 2023 11:17 amI did see reports when I worked at RR that the amount of fuel used by a plane per seat were the same or slightly less than a a person in a car if there were 4 people in the car.

Re: Just Stop Oil...
The point I was inferring is that a car with one person in uses more fuel to get from A to B than if they used a plane to go say from London to Glasgow. As long as the plane is full. When I worked on the Embrear 145, seat cost was about 17 pence per mile. That was about 25 years ago though.
The question was what uses most oil. I suggest it could probably be similar use per mile assuming each method was full of passengers.

This new technology sounds like a real game changer. Science and engineering at its best.

Re: Just Stop Oil...
For those interested, the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) found that it uses the same amount of fuel to fly a plane of 344 passengers from London to New York City as it would to drive 152 Volkswagen Golfs to drive the same distance. On average, a 747 flies at 100 MPG.
In terms of CO2 emissions, it was found that if a 747 flew from London to Edinburgh with a full passenger count, it creates 79kg of CO2 per passenger, whereas an average diesel car doing the same distance causes 98kg, yet you would need 100 cars to take the 400+ passengers.

There will be a physics calculation about weight and power to move a distance that probably shows all things being equal. Most modes of transport use a similar amount to move a person from a to b.

I am assuming the new law must have come into to power to stop protests then.
Seeing loads of clips of them getting arrested now.

Protests aren’t being stopped per se, it’s how they’re protesting that’s been legislated against and as a result the police are able to deal with them accordingly instead of having to stand around watching themNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 11:59 amI am assuming the new law must have come into to power to stop protests then.

Re: Just Stop Oil...
So Just Stop Oil is quite clear about this - any infringement of their right to do as they want is government oppression, but they believe they have the right to stop anyone else from doing as they want?aggi wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 12:30 pmSome people are going to be very confused about who to support here:

Not surprised the clown who sent this letter felt the need to hide their name.
Love the idea they feel they can make demands on others with a threatening tone.

I'm pretty sure Just Stop Oil have never said any infringement of their right to do as they want is government oppression.
