Read that before, a complete non report… he speaks German and a lot rejected the job.Hipper wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 7:47 pmWhy Bayern are risking it on Kompany:

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Yes, I know, but I had to metion the 1972/73 season. My favourite ever. Fantastic football team. The last game away at PNE we took at least 15,000 fans, maybe as many as 18,000. Completely took over their big terraced end, plus we had the bulk of both sides.

My favourite season also plus the season after a very close second. To my memory we didnt break up the promotion winning team and went toe to toe with the division one big boys with the same team plus Noble and Hankin coming into the squad.Quicknick wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:19 pmYes, I know, but I had to metion the 1972/73 season. Its a shame VK couldnt use the buzz in the squad and supporters to create a promotion bounce.

Come on you are better than this you do get quite a few things right but you also get quite a few wrong I can think of 3 just off the top of my head!Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 7:19 pmYep so clueless I’ve been called that all season and been right the whole time.
You said Kompany would get sacked, Brownhill had been replaced and that barring injury/ suspension Muric wouldn’t get in ahead of Trafford. The last 1 was nearly right I guess!

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Yes, only Noble was signed. What a signing, though. Ray Hankin stepped up. What a brute. Great player, mind.beeholeclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:44 pmMy favourite season also plus the season after a very close second. Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
How many jobs in Uk would Kompany have been offered. Exactly. None. That’s why he jumped at the German job. He’s a busted flush already. Will he last a season.. I’m not so sure.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Hankin was already in the squad , imagine if we hadn’t sold Thomas earlier in the promotion season , a couple more buys and we could have easily challenged for the titlebeeholeclaret wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 8:44 pmMy favourite season also plus the season after a very close second. I’m aware Hankin would’ve been in the ‘larger’ squad but did he make his debut in the promotion season?
Did he become a first team regular after Frank was injured against Spurs?

In hindsight I was naive, we will never get better than him. He’s the best manager we will have in my lifetime

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
He got found out last season but does he care? Let's not mess around, last season was never about Burnley Football Club, it was about the self-promotion of Vincent Kompany as a progressive manager. From that PoV it was a roaring success. Had he been more pragmatic we may well have survived, which would have been good for the club but not for VK. Had he sacrificed his style of play it's likely Bayern wouldn't have come calling. It's a shame it's ending this way but Anderlecht fans did warn us about him. His name has got him an opportunity at one of the biggest clubs in the world. It'll be interesting to watch it play out.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 10:10 amThat he had one good season, got found out, and has been on a downward trajectory since.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Viera seems a pretty good fit according to Wikipedia
the team went on an eight-game winless run, which fans blamed on a summer transfer window in which four 20-year-olds were signed for a combined fee of €53 million but struggled to perform.
Vieira's young team struggled on the pitch as fans expressed hostility to the American owners and their business plan of developing new players

Apparently arrived in Munich in the last hour. Only a short drive to the Allianz. Hopefully this gets cleared this afternoon.

Let's hope they don't have a change of mind at the last minute. VK is finished at Burnley.

Yes fingers crossed. And please no patronising statement about how much he liked his time at Burnley and built a platform for the future blah blah blah.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed May 29, 2024 1:25 pmApparently arrived in Munich in the last hour. Not sure why anyone wants him to fail. This is football it happens especially when you sign such a popular person. Good luck Vinny and i hope you smash it. Thanks for the memories.

Don’t care whether he succeeds or fails. Recruitment will be key for him because he is tactically illiterate. He got that fantastically right in his first season here but catastrophically wrong in his second season.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
It will really challenge VK's man management skills. Some big players with I suspect big egos in that BM team, and when things are not going to plan and he comes under pressure (and it will happen), he will need to drop players and keep them motivated and on side. I suspect that was one of his weaknesses with our team, with the constant tinkering and very late substitutions

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I want him to be a success. Potential fees are possibly tied to it.
Just seen on insta that Beyer describes working with him
As ‘nothing but an honour’. Think we can be certain the rumours of a rift with Kompany over his injury were untrue.
