No budget at Como? Where've you got that from? They're owned by an Indonesian billionaire.

Re: Next manager
My bad. I was just presuming all Italian clubs were pretty skint. Hasn't realised they'd had big money backers.
Probably explains why he's at Como in the first place.

This intrigued me so searched it out:burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 11:23 amWhat I've managed to find out about RVN so far,...fell out with staff and players and left. Results seem to be decent though. His Masterclass interview was OK, but not as convincing as Cesc's.
Anything else?

Interesting watch. I wouldn’t be against him at all. Again, a risk but could be a genius move with his knowledge and experience of being in top level teams.
Can’t see it with just getting Como promoted though.

There’s no doubting fabregas has been coached by some of the best and speaks very well, I just can’t see him leaving the club he has shares in, who have just been promoted. Even if he is only the number 2

He’s only number two by name. Due to not having the appropriate badges at the time. That’s now changed

Re: Next manager
Corberan - top choice, they can’t all get the Leicester job…
Carrick - contract might just be to ensure compensation should he leave.
Cooper - as Corberan.
Moyes - might not be the big name attraction but a very good manager with vast experience. Is he holding out for Everton again…?
OGS with Phelan as his assistant could work. Big name, decent experience, Burnley link with MP.

All jesting aside, how does everyone rate OGS? Failure at Cardiff, did a good job at Molde by all accounts.
Thought he was getting it right at Utd before Ronaldo came along. Seems a nice guy who wants to play decent football.

I think the chairman and the other directors will look on this as an appointment to attempt to grow the club so they can make money eventually out of us, as so I think they will not let hearts rule head, there will be a careful analysis of what we have and our weaknesses ie numerous wingers, unsettled defence and squad and the candidates will be probed on these topics and previous experience of addressing these issues etc before styles of play come into it,that's why I think it will be an experienced manager. That said who knows

Would prefer we get someone with the experience or real potential to get us promoted than someone to just make a statement and attract publicity. The club isn’t just a gimmick or a play thing.

Whoever it is going to be, Pace needs to get a wiggle on.
So much to sort out on the playing side trimming the massively bloated squad and getting suitable players in for a 46 game campaign.

Re: Next manager
I do wonder what the hold up is.
I don't know if it is tough negotiations, or someone has been chosen, but needs time.
Probably just still going through candidates I'm guessing.

Re: Next manager
I think that will be the whole point of appointing CB and MJ - they’ll be doing what is necessary in terms of pre-season preparation, recruitment, etc.
Re: Next manager
Could the hold up simply be that none of the candidates came across to AP as suitable.

Transfer window opens on June 14th - just a week away and we need to get moving now to not be at the back of the queuequoonbeatz wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 1:24 pmNo real rush, players won't be back for a while yet and there's not a lot to do before then.
Clubs already publishing lists of players who they will not be retaining and therefore available for "free" from end of month - I presume our unbalanced squad means we may be interested in some to cover our weak areas
The long term manager needs to also identify which current squad players are surplus to requirements and get those names out to agents asap for potential transfer deals bringing in money from fees and reducing wage bill
Not a lot to do really ???

Re: Next manager
Any manager worth their salt is going assess what they have before making many decisions. They aren't going to be doing that much before they players are back. There might be a few players they know they don't want and a few they know they do, but there's not going to be a mass overhaul between now and the window opening.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:08 pmTransfer window opens on June 14th - just a week away and we need to get moving now to not be at the back of the queue

You’d imagine, as the article suggests, those clubs will look to sell one or two players for hefty fees. Not a fire sale, and not our market at the best of times.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 5:16 pmhttps://www.skysports.com/football/news ... r-breaches

RVN sounds a risky appointment, not massively experienced, he's managed PSV for a year left when they were 2nd in the league and won some dutch cup or other, left citing a lack of support from the club.
