I agree, but he could be worth the extra 2-3 million if we can find it.Jambounchained wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 12:40 pmWe've apparently bid £8m for Piroe at Swansea.
Would be a hell of a signing - doubt we'd get him for anywhere under £10m though.

£10m - £15m fee with a buyback clause for City of, say, £25m if we're a Championship side or £35m if we're a Premier League side. Convince Delap by saying he'd be first choice here, 3 years + 1 year option in club's favour (can only be activated if we're Premier League) and allow him a release clause active 2 years into his deal if we're still in the Championship.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Are we chasing both Delap and Piroe, or just whichever we can get first, both would be a surprise, although I suppose if Delap is only a loan it might be feasible.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Piroe was completely made up by an account with 16 followers.
Delap was tweeted by a guy with 9.6m followers.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
This is the translated article from the Dutch press re Maatsen:
‘Ian Maatsen is definitely not coming to Feyenoord. The 20-year-old defender chooses Vincent Kompany's Burnley, which plays in the Championship. The coach, who has been active on Turf Moor since this summer, really wanted the Dutchman.
This is reported by Voetbal International. It is a hard blow for Feyenoord, Maatsen thought he had already received it by a hair. The left back therefore opts again for a rental period at the second level in England and ignores a Europa League campaign with Feyenoord.
Dennis te Kloese must now switch to alternatives. Earlier this week, the names of Mykola Matvienko and Dávid Hancko were mentioned. The arrival of the latter seems the most realistic, as Matvienko is said to cost fifteen million euros’

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Shows you can't believe everything you read on Twitter I guess. And Piroe doesn't really fir the model does he, whereas Delap certainly does fit the model.
I'll settle for Delap either on loan or permanent, as he strikers me )pun intended) as someone who'll score plenty in the Championship, especially now we'll finally have a functioning creative midfield, and we should expect to be on the front foot in most games all being well.

Maatsen would be on par with Twine for my signing of the summer so far.
He’s a very very good LB. Got to wonder what this means for Taylor.

Maatsen started 40 games for Coventry last season, seems strange to come here as back up unless Charlie is off.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Maatsen is a LB, and Forest have also been heavily linked today, it would suggest if he's signing, and with Dodgson signing a new 3 year deal, that Taylor might be on his way, because surely we don't need to be carrying 3 LB'S in the Championship.RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 5:38 pmThis is the translated article from the Dutch press re Maatsen:

So not only will the Burnley players be shaking the hands of the opposition this season, they'll be shaking the hands of each other to introduce themselves before each match.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I read it as we enquired for Delap on loan a few weeks back but City want to sell with a buy back.
Clubs can only loan so many youngsters now I think or trying to get money off youth players to help with FFP?
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Unlikely, I know but that's what Southampton want to do with City only they'd want bigger buyback clauses* and would be less likely to offer the player a release clause or at least a lower one.
*They bought Lavia from City this window but the buyback in that deal £40m. We could undercut them on that.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Delap and the full back look like decent additions, but somthing isn't stacking up here. Kompany himself said loans would be the last resort, now its being reported we're already after another 2.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I didn’t read it like that to be fair. I think Fabrizio’s English at times isn’t perfect but he’s basically saying we’ve asked for him on loan, while Southampton are interested but only on permanent - therefore City need to decide what to do.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 5:55 pmI read it as we enquired for Delap on loan a few weeks back but City want to sell with a buy back.

It either means Taylor is off or we’re looking to loan out Dodgson.BuryClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 5:19 pmThe headline of this article reads 'Ian Maatsen chooses Burnley'

I’d assume Taylor will be off but happy to be proved wrong.
I’ll go with £5m to Leeds.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Fair enough.
Just wanted to show how I thought we could beat out Southampton for a permanent deal as if I just said we could do it without putting some reasoning/context would sound unrealistic.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I heard this is a possibility, Taylor exiting that is, not necessarily to that club for that fee.FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 6:27 pmIt either means Taylor is off or we’re looking to loan out Dodgson.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
No real surprise is it?
Any player that can command a fee under this regime will be ushered through the exit door and the announcement of Cornet's and McNeil's departures is just a matter of time.

Are these full backs or wing backs or can they play both?
Is it not possible we play with a full back and wing back?

Egan-Riley has been brought in as a centre back along with THB and McNally to replace tarky, Mee and Collins why is this so hard to understand?FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 6:53 pmOne of Roberts or Lowton will be going if we’ve got Egan Riley who can play there. How can signing 3 centre backs to replace 3 centre backs mean we're selling a right back?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I just don’t think we need to sell absolutely everybody. Like…surely not.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Maatsen played LM for Coventry with 3 CBs.
THB played in a back 3 at Stoke and back 3 at Anderlecht (when Anderlecht switched to a 2, THB was dropped)
Mcnally played in a back 3 at Oxford.
Seems to me, we're gonna start with 3 at the back.

An educated guess based on the fact that we’ve got bills to pay. Given we’ve probably only got about £15m for Pope and Collins by the time you’ve taken out the various sell on fees and remaining transfer payments, it won’t be the end of it.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Herein lies the potential upside of the Collins sale. A superb player, a price lower than I had hoped, but the ability now to press on with the players Kompany wanted.
I hope this is true - I think he’d be a proper crowd favourite.
