Apparently we’re linked to Dara O’Shea at West Brom. Reading the WBA board they would much rather keep him and he’s in the last year of his contract and isn’t signing another.

Yep, I’ve said this myself based on the business being done. I just cannot see Kompany not opting to play three centre mids when you have the quality (for this level) of Cork, Cullen, Brownhill and Bastien (with Westwood to return). It’s a really strong area for us now.
3-5-2 with wing backs.

Yes you’re right, I don’t know. I should have included ‘IMO’. I’m not claiming to be ITK by any means. Haven’t got a clue what’s going to happen but I suppose that’s half the fun!

Alex Crook did report the Pope deal was happening around 10m to be fair
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
That system would not have room for the likes of O’Hare, Twine and McNeil though…jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 7:16 pmYep, I’ve said this myself based on the business being done. Re O’Hare for those who missed it a poster on here before said Cov insiders reckon O’Hare wants the move as we’ll be tripling his wages and we were still negotiating the fee with them.

Roberts—————Brownhill———-Taylor
————-McNeil——Striker—Twine
O’Hare, McNeil, Twine, JBG to be interchangeable throughout the season (I’m taking it as read that Cornet goes). I see McNeil and Twine as tucked in wingers in the above to be clear, playing off the striker as opposed to hugging a touchline (offering overlap opportunities to Roberts/Taylor).
All guesswork, I just feel it suits our squad best.
Edit - should caveat, I said 3-5-2 and then committed my thoughts to paper and went in an entirely alternate direction

If the money is right Brownhill can go for me, he is bang average
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Brownhill is proven at the level we’re at, I’d rather keep him, he’s a better player than many give him credit for.

Mike McGrath (reliable) saying Maatsen is indeed a target for us… maybe not as close as the Dutch press were saying?

David Ornstein saying Maatsen is signing on loan, medical tomorrow
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Not convinced it’s a good idea flogging almost every single first team player if indeed what is rumoured transpires.
Taylor, Roberts and Brownhill are all upper tier players at this level. Surely retaining some of that is worth it.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Or they arent committed to staying and searching for a move back to the Prem? We get a bigger wage off the books and fee. Still not convinced we sell ALL of them anyway.

I heard his medical was tomorrow earlier. Seemed a bit soon after initially breaking to be true but looks to be right. Not sure how I feel about a loan and thought that Angers LB looked great.

Because many haven't got a sodding clue. He will be a real asset next season. As you say proven at this level. A level quite a bit lower in general than the EPL.

You can put it how you wish, but if we sell all our better players it's a Fire sale.
As predicted by many.
I didn't believe we would sell all of them but if we do.

Maybe VK has seen more of dodgson and decided he isn’t quite ready yet, hence the loan.

Nah. Watford selling their best players too. Bournemouth made 75m in sales when they came down and spent 0. God, imagine we did that, I’m already worried for the health of some on here.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:09 pmYou can put it how you wish, but if we sell all our better players it's a Fire sale.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Taylor is also a very very good left back. Healthy competition in this area is a great thing in my opinion, especially if he is using wing backs as his main source of width. More games in the championship would mean more squad rotationNewcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:12 pmI would agree but Maatsen is not coming in to be reserve. He’s a very very good lb

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I’m a bit uneasy about so many loans, especially if they’re the ones replacing our first-teamers.
What happens at the end of the season when we’re still stuck in the Championship and they all return to their parent clubs?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I'd always thought that "fire sale" was what a business did when it was shutting down. Burnley aren't doing that. A new manager, Vincent Kompany, plus new coaching team have been brought in. Vincent Kompany and his team are busy bringing in many new players and re-building the squad. "Fire sales" don't include re-stocking to replace whatever has been sold.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:09 pmYou can put it how you wish, but if we sell all our better players it's a Fire sale.

True but with this lad we are doing well to attract in the championship (personally the best footballer we have signed this window). He will be coming expecting to startgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Wed Jul 13, 2022 9:14 pmTaylor is also a very very good left back. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I would expect him to be starting if he comes on loan from Chelsea.
I think it was quite a knock against us under Dyche that young loanees were barely used (other than ones we were interested in bringing in permanently). Makes getting loans a fair bit harder I reckon.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We have an abundance of experience. It’s imperative we keep that, and we will, even if there are further sales.
Kompany isn’t stupid, he has made quite a few comments already about the unity and togetherness that he’s seen in the squad since he arrived.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
We released Erik Pieters, Taylor just had a terrible season - who’s to say he will be sold? Maybe, for once, there’s just going to be competition for some places without us all knowing who will be playing (if fit).
