He was one year at PSV and resigned before the last match. They were runners-up the previous two seasons and won it the season after he left.It Is What It Is wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2024 7:28 pmRVN imo would be a bloody good appointment.
The modern football club now requires a Big name manager and RVN is known and respected throughout Europe.
In his couple of years at PSV he took them to runners up in the Erediverse and won the Dutch Cup.

Lampard drifting
Re: Next manager
Bayern Munich will be gutted that if only they'd had more patience they could have got for free the man who conquered a world team made up of the finest players ever to put a pair of football boots on.

Re: Next manager
The reservations I would have about RVN is that he actually has limited managerial experience and this was gained at one of the big Dutch clubs, and more or less his whole history has been spent at top, successful clubs.
We had this with Kompany, these guys aren't used to losing a lot and in VK's case he didn't know what to do when they did.
Maybe Van Nistelrooy would be more pragmatic.

He managed PSV u21s and Netherlands youth teams, I know that’s not the same as having senior team experience but it’s not exactly hiring a rookie manager.ClaretLoup wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 10:10 amThe reservations I would have about RVN is that he actually has limited managerial experience and this was gained at one of the big Dutch clubs, and more or less his whole history has been spent at top, successful clubs.

Assuming cooper is off the table the top 5 really should be
1. Corberan
2. Ruud
3. Lampard
4. Parker
5. Not Bellamy but any other name

Re: Next manager
I sat and watched various interviews with Lampard last night, he does come across well, clearly an intelligent guy.
I'm just trying to prepare myself, in case it is him. I want to be able to get behind whoever it is that gets the job.
Corboran is still my preferred choice.

Re: Next manager
The thing I like about lampard is he is committed to improving himself as a manager in the UK. He hasn't gone off to the states or the desert to cash in, and I think it will pay off for him. Chelsea and Everton were just too soon imo, imagine Dyche getting the Chelsea job after his one season at Watford. Nuts. I think given the right job at the right time he'll prove himself, hopefully with us.burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 10:32 amI sat and watched various interviews with Lampard last night, he does come across well, clearly an intelligent guy.

Re: Next manager
I watched him (Lampard) doing a one to one a few months back, can’t remember if it was with Simon Jordan or Stephen Bartlett, possibly Bartlett. I have to admit Lampard wasn’t fazed by the questions put to him, some of those questions were almost like him being interrogated, he didn’t shirk from any of them and answered in a honest and professional manner. I’ve said previously he wouldn’t be my choice, having said that without knowing who the other candidates are perhaps he’s the best of a bad bunch so to speak. If it is him I will still give him 100% support as I’m sure most true Burnley fans will.burnley007 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 10:32 amI sat and watched various interviews with Lampard last night, he does come across well, clearly an intelligent guy.

This season we need a manager who takes us on winning streaks off up to 10 wins on the bounce.
Worry about the prem when we get there.

Re: Next manager
Corberans record in England is taking Huddersfield to the play off final and saving West Brom from relegation on his first year, then turning them into a play off team the year after.
But his idol is Rafa Benitez and for that reason it’s a massive NO from me

Dyche did things like learning from other sports.
Lampard has just assumed his name will get him another opportunity. Sadly, it looks like we may just be the ones that prove him right.

He went to England training as an observer. Just because he hasn't specifically said I went here, there and everywhere doesn't mean he hasnt. I'd also be very surprised if he hasn't been to live games too.

He was observing England training sessions a few months back for example https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/explai ... 744b185924
Re: Next manager
I'm going off when he's directly asked about it in his interviews (links to which have been posted in this thread). And that article you've linked clearly states he was invited there, so not even something he sought out himself. Re: Next manager
Obviously he was invited as he would be to any other training session at a club. There's hardly a queue of out of work managers outside training grounds asking to come in and watch.Mattster wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 5:15 pmI'm going off when he's directly asked about it in his interviews (links to which have been posted in this thread). How do you know he didn't ask Southgate and was then invited.
Re: Next manager
Any manager hoping to get a job would be nuts not to have evidence of trying to improve themselves.
So Frank what have you been up to since you left your last job? Bugger all Alan, just been a hermit hoping to get a gig at some point.

Re: Next manager
The Steven Bartlett 'Diary of a CEO' interview was conducted not long after his last managerial stint at Chelsea, so I wouldn't be surprised if he just wanted to take some time away for a while. I'd be pretty surprised if an obviously driven individual like Lampard hadn't been looking to improve himself.

Calling people from Burnley buffoons is a bit insulting. I think we have the right to have a view on a prospective manager without an arrogant journalist trying to use it to make himself look clever.
