Unfortunately MM was today afforded something many of his victims weren't. The dignity of a funeral so family, friends, fellow terrorists, murderers and spineless 2 faced political figures can pay their respects. If one were to believe in the afterlife, the MM elevator would most certainly be, like the Venkys, going down.

You forgot to mention the funeral was held in a country now at peace brought about by him and those "spineless politicians". Other than that, spot on.

A damn sight more peaceful than it was, I'd say.

That will be because the man chiefly responsible for countless shootings, bombings, murders, kidnaps, extortion, arms running etc was the one inside the box. Thankfully the funeral wasn't disrupted by a mob lynching 2 soldiers, as a previous one orchestrated by your 'conduit for peace'.

Not my "conduit for peace", pal, I'm English, was never involved in Irish affairs directly or indirectly and I'm only interested in the historical context of all this.
Not a terrorism supporter as some might almost dare but not quite suggest, I hope you're not taking that lazy route, but I don't have much truck with some of the screeching on here. Each to their own, of course, but as callous and evil as the creep was, he did play a significant part in shaping the country's relatively peaceful future.
I know some folks have trouble accepting that but it's most certainly true.
