It didn't come back to life. It didn't die.

Just watched the last episode of the season. Still good viewing but seems to have lost its element of surprise this season - anyone else think this? Sorry if this has already been mentioned - completely avoided this thread in case of spoilers!

Excellent episode. 10/10 for me.

Someone said higher up the thread that it seems to have lost some of the suspense and surprise and I would partially agree with that. But as the story is getting to its conclusion it inevitably has to resolve the big plotlines without leaving any ambiguity.

I'd argue that the happenings at Winterfell last night re Littlefinger were something of a surprise. One I had hoped for but one nonetheless.

I also don't believe for a second that Cercei is actually preggers. We shall see.

7/10 for me, certainly not as strong a finale as last season. (I'm biased though, that was my favourite bit ofmTV ever)

Spoilers coming up.... just in case!

The little finger arc was rapped up, it was obviously signposted, and the actor of LF, after spending 7 seasons doing the same stich showed why, Sansa held the scene together though. I wanted more grovelling, tears, snot, begging, really showing us the coward that he is. It would have also been far better, if Sansa had said "hold" to Ayra, "the one who passes the sentence must do the punishment" and then do it herself but hey ho, they're a wolf pack.

I'm the three eyed raven not Brandon Stark, doesn't tell a single person about Jon, but Sam walks in and then he spills the guts, in front of the one person that could actually correct him. Whole scene was just not "real"

So, the NK has a Ice Dragon, and that's how he brings down the wall... so the guys plan all along was for someone he probably doesn't know exists to fly a dragon - that he has no reason for thinking still exist - so he can kill said Dragon, and then zombify it and use it to bring down the wall?!? Coupled with some pretty poor CGI (for the show) and that scene feel flat too, which is a great shame as he'd been walking towards that wall for 7 seasons.

However, seeing all the major players in Kings Landing was good, many characters with grievances on both sides, creating real tension. Very well acted allround. The hound looked genuinely scared of that box, which just added to the tension. Cersei as well. Small gripe But if Cersei planned to double cross all along, why walk out first?

And did the show just make me pleased for Theon!?! Good job there, and his walk to the ocean was very well acted, good scene, apart from the stupidity of try to knee and known eunuch in the crotch three times.

Oh, and Jon, I'd never father a *******, snow / sand / blackfyre / targaryen, shags his Aunt, does he know how babies are made!? ;-)

See you all next year! Gulp...

I actually thought that it wasn't going to be in there...that something had happened between the last time he'd kicked the box and it being opened. Imagine if they'd gone all that way, to all that trouble only to open a box of nothing for Cersei.

I almost expected a laughter track to start playing during the kicks to the crotch.

I think it's strongly suggested the Knight King has similar powers to the Three Eyed Raven. So the idea of laying a trap isn't that plot breaking.

I though it very weak... Always suspected it would fizzle out when it came to finishing the story.

I know it is fantasy but lots of "eh? how/why did that happen?"

Lots already mentioned but I'll add
1. where did the chains come from to tow the dragon out of the water?
2. Never mind the non-swimming zombies finding a way to attach them
3. The gaping holes in the wings might affect the aerodynamics of said dragon
4. What blue/white light destroys ice wall... Didn't look like fire to me. Surely if it was more ice it would not just collapse like it did.

hay ho... not long to the end now... not sure it will live up to the early/mid series which were brilliant.

If you're prepared to accept that the zombies can walk without any apparent muscles on their legs surely it ain't a stretch to a dragon flying with holes in its wings. As for blue flames melting an ice wall, haven't you ever seen a gas hob?

I think the reason the Wights can walk without muscle tissue is because the White Walkers are controlling them with magic. Same goes for the Night King and the dragon. There might be a problem keeping tissue around on dead bodies so maybe we won't see much of unViserion in season 8. Or maybe he can keep his tissue alive/working. It does seem like he can manipulate what the tissue does since he was able to change the fire he breathes to a type of fire that doen't burn the undead. So maybe he can keep him around, but i doubt it. One dragonglass-tipped arrow should kill him. Again.

1. There's a lot to suggest the Night King is a Greenseer and knew that Dany would bring dragons. It being a trap explains why he didn't immediately re-freeze the lake in episode 6 in instead chose to wait.

2. They can't swim but they don't need to. They're dead.

3. The holes would have affected thrust, yes, but not eliminated it. And it did look awkward in its flying which could be caused by the holes or by the Night King not knowing how to fly it properly with magic. There are plenty of possible explanations given that it's a fantasy drama with magic. We don't know how the NK uses magic, or what his magic can do. It's perfectly reasonable to think that he is using magic and the dragon's wings to fly the thing.

4. Wildfire is green and was used to burn Stannis' fleet and to destroy the Sept of Baelor but it's blue fire that you have doubts about.

IT / CombatClaret, genuine question but is there anything to suggest, in the TV show, that the NK is a greensear?

I'm aware of the theories regarding who he is from the books, Spolier - with the horn of winter potentially a way to bring down the wall - but what evidence in the Show?

Another thing, Euron and Cerseis plan was for them to think he walked out and was sailing home, instead of going to pick up the GC, this ruse, was made believable by the question "can they swim?", about undead they had no idea they were bringing and until that point didn't believe existed,

I'm not saying it was a bad series, but there's certainly been more obvious plot holes now they're not on book material.
