Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
Should have been sown up at half time. We aren't the type of team to come back from 2 down with however long left.

just seen the replay, I suspect Lowton could end up with a 3 match ban for standing on a Watford players hand on purpose

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
I don't think it's the defeat, but the performance that's worrying people,we lost our first home game last season against West Brom, but we played well and got caught by a sucker punch.Defending has been abysmal especially for a Sean Dyche team,if we carry on like that the whole season it will be a long campaign, fortunately i don't think we will.Tall Paul wrote:I don't know what everyone is complaining about, most people said they wanted us to win on Thursday and lose today.

It'll be a disgrace if Lowton gets a ban for that after the ones Hegazi and Salah got away with last seasonVegas Claret wrote:just seen the replay, I suspect Lowton could end up with a 3 match ban for standing on a Watford players hand on purpose

The poorest result since Waitrose started selling normal white sliced sourdough bread.

From a set piece. It’s perfectly fair to criticise our lack of creativity, we knew this was a problem and it hasn’t been addressed in the summer whatsoever.Tall Paul wrote:You know we got a goal today, don't you?
Dyche is another Allerdyce/Pulis type manager just plays the percentages.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
As Dyche always says, it's small margins in this league. I don't believe for a second our European efforts had no effect, if you're not 100% switched on mentally and physically then you're going to struggle. Especially since our strengths are based on being tough to beat, having high concentration levels and having the energy to get in the way of everything.

Weird game. Once they scored we woke up and were superb. Watford looked poor.
Then we gift them two goals and lose the match.

Still lacking creativity up top. Dominated the first half and played some nice stuff, but still didn’t create many clear cut chances.
Second half was dreadful. Midweek hangover?...

Yeh we did get a goal, from a set piece...and we should have had another when at 1-1 or maybe 2 more. But when when went 1 and 2 behind we never looked like scoring, which is what I think most people who have mentioned the lack of creativity, are talking about.Tall Paul wrote:You know we got a goal today, don't you?
I’d like to see Vydra included in the squad on Thursday to add legs and a different dimension to our options. More importantly the two league games we’ve played I think we could and probably should have won both....league is far more
Important

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
This result just shows the sheer folly of embarking on a Europa League campaign having failed to strengthen the squad significantly in outfield positions, especially with question marks hanging over Defour and Brady fitness wise. Sadly, our 2 most creative players.
Still, that ship has sailed now so Sean Dyche just has to make the best of what he has at his disposal.

I also think the lack of atmosphere has some effect. Not a big crowd.
Perhaps they are saving the money for the European games - lets face it - a day on the Turf isn't exactly cheap. Fine every two weeks but if you are playing continental teams also it starts to bite the hip pocket.

Fair dibs to the Watford manager (can't think of his name) but they must have changed something at half time. Whatever it was it worked!
Much better to praise the opponents that slag off ourselves. Okay admittedly we were't brilliant though...

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Wotfor?
Hi piston, my thoughts, it's the preparation for europa game, then preparation for the Premier League game. So, even if we have the resources to rotate and keep players "fresh" we are preparing two different teams in a week and have less prep time as a result. Our defensive structure always needs a lot of coaching/preparation. This is what we are missing out on with 2 games, with rotation, every week.piston broke wrote:Europe had nothing to do with this performance. They've all been rotated and are fresh.
They started each half with a goal and then built from there. Our heads went down after the third, which is disappointing from an SD team. Some awful performances. We do tend to look lightweight against big, physical midfielders.
But, it's a quality challenge and one we should be happy we have - even if we get results like today's now and again. (But not too often, please).

Just seen goals on NBC Sports. Should Hart have done better? Will we see Tom next time?
Not judging myself - not seen enough. But, 3 goals conceded, does this give Tom a chance at the shirt?

They worked harder, closed us down quicker and as we all know we have zero creativity to combat that. Must give credit to Watford. Totally controlled the second half. Had we played like that away from home and scored 3 goals like that we would be on Cloud 9
