And there you have it
It would be up to labour to support it. I have no faith that they would support a Tory amendment, unless it was for a CU (which the Tory amendment probably can't be)

May - Hello EU, I'm here to open up the withdrawal agreement to discuss changes to the Ireland backstop as instructed by my Parliament.
EU - We will never reopen it and accept that a no deal Brexit will result.
May - Thank you for that clarification and Goodbye.

Except they follow events in Parliament and know that a strong signal about "no deal" was sent out in the Spelman vote last night, and will assume that we will eventually sign-off on some deal rather than blow our own brains out.Mala591 wrote:May - Hello EU, I'm here to open up the withdrawal agreement to discuss changes to the Ireland backstop as instructed by my Parliament.

.
As has been pointed out time and time again, Parliament got us into this mess and Parliament will have to find a way out. They can't simply expect the EU to put an International Treaty and peace in Ireland at risk in order to do May a favour.

Spelman was non binding.

Like the referendum.AndyClaret wrote:Spelman was non binding.

Not implementing the will of our elected representatives would be undemocratic and likely lead to many MPs never voting again and potential rioting in the members bar.

Yes. If you read my post properly I said it sent out a "strong signal", not that it was now law. (Get it?)AndyClaret wrote:Spelman was non binding.
The signal is though, that a majority of MPs from every party are prepared to come to together to prevent it happening, and assuming May's plea to the EU fails, the number supporting a further vote on this can only grow.

He increasingly comes across as an egotistical individual and frankly embarrassment who comes up on PMQ on a Wednesday when tuning into the news bulletin.
