Only thing I can imagine is Kompany perhaps doesn’t rate him?
Or he’s gone LOI, League One, into championship in no time and VK is taking his time as he sees something in him?

We really have to get to grips with making things happen with all that possession. 1 shot on target is terrible. a striker alone won't drastically improve that.
One thing that did happen is we won! That will do me!!

Solid win and dominant performance, minutes for Churlinov, Benson and Egan Riley important, good stuff

We were playing a league one team tonight. If he’s not getting any minutes against this lot then it’s not a great sign.

As comfortable a 1-0 win as you could have - Boden.

WTF Does Barnes offer even against opposition like these nothing at all, not one single shot from him all night on or off target and just 10 completed passes all game, pathetic waste of a wage, bring in two forwards please Burnley and loan him out to someone like Tranmere or Accrington

A lot of posters sound like they expected a 5-0 win??? Still a team of new players (with some playing their first full games tonight) although this board isn't known for patience or reasonableness so no surprise.... Good win, hopefully another lower league team in the next round.

Hard for our other attacking players when you have a striker ahead of you who barely moves.

Look at the match stats almost all our forward players if not all had at least a shot on or off target, he's a forward and offered not even a shot off target, we are carrying him at 10's of thousands pound a week

Barnes playing tonight was a deprived opportunity for young players in this squad getting valuable game time. I am surprised and disappointed that VK has played him whole game when youth has prevailed in his signings. He has done precious little in the first 5 games and in pre season

Didn't see tonight's game but re the Barnes chat, I think we all saw what a difference Rodriguez makes to us with his movement and technique compared with what Barnes offers.

The system we play just doesn't suit Barnes one single bit. It exposes him and he looks dreadful, apparently even against L1 opposition.

Say what you want about him. But tippy tappy stuff around the box is just not playing to his strengths.

He needs crosses into the box from deep.

If you are not going to play to his strengths, then don’t play him. As you say in this system he offers little.

Crosses into the box from deep are 100% not playing to Ashley Barnes' strengths.

Sadly he is human and this must embarass him too. I only played amateur football but when I played badly I knew better than anyone else. Do that for 7-8 games in a row (including pre season and against lower opposition) and you would start to get really down

Barnes is a good player in transition and had fierce volley and first time shot on him.

Unfortunately he’s lost a yard of pace and some of his agility.

He shouldn’t be playing for us anymore and it pains me to say it because I absolutely loved watching Ashley Barnes in his prime for us

Looking at the match stats on Sky, it mirrors most of our games this season and appears we're all fart and no **** at the moment.
Really need to find the right combination up top, although with a week or so to go, I'm still confident VK will pull a rabbit out of a hat

I don't think it matters who we have up front, if we continue to try and blindly walk the ball into the net.
It's just as predictable, in a different scenario, as Dyche ball.

We have to mix it up when we get outside the box. Put in crosses, try and get to the bye line for pull backs, and definitely start taking shots from distance. With the amount of players teams are putting behind the ball, a keepers vision will occasionally be obscured, and he only has to spill one to give us a break.

Stats like tonight happen occasionally, but they've happened to some extent, in every game this season, we really have to start shaking it up. I long accepted that it will take time to get it right, but even if we get it perfected, it isn't going to make a difference if we can't score.

A win and a clean sheet at a potential banana skin tie, job done for me.

Well done Bastien on netting his 1st Clarets goal, not easy tonight by the reports, but a win is a win, enjoy it and look forward to Wigan.

Persecution ???? You obviously don't know what Persecution means, a little lesson for you, persecution is unfair or cruel treatment over a long period of time because of race, religion, or political beliefs. not calling or pointing out a players terrible skills of a once decent player

Cannot disagree with that. When we scored the muted celebration from our fans almost suggested that many of them had fallen asleep or were p!ssing about with their phones or thought the shot had hit the side netting.
