what is the playing surface like ? Hard to judge on the internet but I don't think Cadiz have been that good on it eitherNottsClaret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:30 pmDecided to come in the end. Nowt has haopened, doesn’t look as bad ‘live’, just a training session really. Might go and cool off for a bit in Reactor Two at Chernobyl.

Probably not as expensive as they are on the Turf. I’ve just made do with a brew.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Podcast i listen to said this exact thing. Parker's teams are too much like Southgate's that get stick for slowing it down and passing for passing's sake. I'll reserve judgement for now though. It's only been 45 mins of a preseason friendly.bfcmik wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:32 pmO'Shea and Esteve too often doing an 'England', just putting their foot on the ball and killing the game for a couple of minutes. Looks like we watched too much of Stones, Walker & co a couple of months ago. Steve has at least managed to push forward a few times though

Quite rightFoshiznik wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:24 pmJust a friendly reminder to the fans already frothing at the mouth. This game is a pre season friendly. The result doesn’t matter. Fitness and sharpness are the most important things and it’s also important for the manager to experiment tactically and play players in different positions.
We will not win a cup or 3 points by winning today. Please calm down the drama queenery.
The fact that we have been back in training for a month and the first league game is only a week tomorrow should not mean we should look something like a composed unit just yet

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Never said it was meaningless. It’s been arranged for fitness, match sharpness and to try different things tactically, just as I said in the post you quoted. You are preaching to the choir on that specific point.spt_claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:32 pmJust a friendly reminder that everyone said this last season, especially in regards to players looking good or not good in preseason, then lo and behold, some who looked poor in preseason played poorly for real, some who played well in preseason took forever to get the chance then played well for real. The performance problems carried over into the league right through.
Momentum and performances do matter somewhat- not the be all end all but somewhat, and good performances tend to result in decent results. Results also help with confidence & belief.
If it was purely about fitness they'd just be doing cardio, if it was purely about tactical experiments they'd just do practice rotation games splitting the squad in 2.
I'm certainly not "frothing at the mouth". or panicking over 1 half in preseason but to pretend that the performance or result are completely meaningless is stupid- if it was meaningless, we wouldn't bother.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
We are playing with a one man midfield without Berger, and as others have Odobert is not a number 10.
It is bloody hot here at the moment though (Benalmadena not Cadiz) so it can't be easy.

As said above. We play in 8 days. This is a perfect opportunity to see where we are at. Understand they mean nothing and are good for fitness. Bastien on we win this 4-1

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
This is the weather in Cadiz right now
That is hard to play in and naturally the players will slow it down a bit... won't be like that against Luton I guarantee.
Great finish Lyle!

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
The lad Coyle signed from Cardiff - his name was Steven Thompson. The only players I can recall at Burnley called Thomson were Harry & Jim.
