Clarets v PNE Match Thread
Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
We have no attacking threat. Im sorry and i hate calling a player out but playing Foster is like playing with 10 men.

People will soon stop spending their hard earned cash to watch that dross. Currently we are nowhere near promotion quality. Just take a look how many goals we have scored since the transfer window closed. Yes we are not conceding but 0-0 at home ( which should have been 0-1) is not good enough. Heginbottom has Preston playing exactly as I want us to play. Parker tip tap does not work for me UTC
Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
Cullen in midfield is so negative everything sideways and backwards no fwd passing through midfield at all , it's just so negative fed up of fans saying we need time to gel , they train every day together for god's sake , parker has a fantastic squad to pick from it's just all wrong tactically and selection

Very poor performance. We got lucky with the offside goal.
Teams are coming here and sitting back and at the moment we aren’t good enough to break them down.

Every ball crossed into the box is aimless. They don’t look up and try to pick a player out.
Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
2 sh1t teams, a sh1t referee. Absolutely forgettable game. We are so negative and have no idea how to break teams down.

The last two games have epitomised just how much we're missing Sander Berge.

Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
We did get a clean sheet but we didn't deserve one as they scored a perfectly good goal. Shame it didn't stand we mightve actually had a go.
Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
Took my lad on trying to get him into it, hopefully he'll get a season ticket with me next season. Not after that rubbish.
I know we're still up there, but sacrificing all that money and all them match days to watch that? I can understand why he won't bother.

Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
No bo11ocks - We are driven by fear of conceding rather than opening up and creating.
Foster is wasting his career under Parker.
He is working extremely hard and doing all of the work as a number 10 as well as leading the line.
Another striker may not be that selfless for the team, whilst his personal stats suffer.
We are playing an extra midfielder instead of a 10 and as such far too defensive, especially at home.
You can't have Hannibal and Brownhill in the same team, its far too defensive and easy to defend against.
Ironically because teams know that we haven't got the numbers up top the defensive line can move up and condense the space.
Its very difficult to choose who to drop between Brownhill and Hannibal but based purely on the fact that Brownhill has scored four goals this season he keeps his place.
Then Flemming comes in as a 9 or 10.
5 goals in 7 games, (one of them a penalty) tells its own story and our XG must be 000.1
The polarity of this is that we have conceded only one goal in the last 5 but goals win games and consequently promotion and league titles.
Very very frustrating

Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
Parker doesn’t have a Mitrovic or Solanke to call upon this time around and Burnley lack a proven consistent scorer at this level. Yes, we have players still to come back from injury but none of them have proved themselves prolific in front of goal. We have players who can score the occasional spectacular goal but nobody who is going to end the season with 15 or 20. Perhaps Benson could provide an extra goal threat when back to fitness?
Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
Good game for a 0-0 draw. Preston defended well, battled hard and were much better than I expected, top ten finish for them.

Re: Clarets v PNE Match Thread
If Parkers thinking is that he wants us to be hard to beat then I can understand it while being frustrated with lack of entertainment. However from his interviews it is clear that he wants us to be better on the ball and that this isn't the plan which is concerning as we've played this way since the Sunderland game.
We are really struggling on the ball. Flemming has a touch of quality about him, we need to find a way of playing him alongside Foster. That will likely mean sacrificing Hannibal. But Cullen doesn't seem the player of 2 seasons ago. He used to dominated games and always be so good on the ball. But now he looks like he is struggling. Our passing game relies on him.
The positive is that we are different to score against and that will keep us up there until we do click in attack

I think that you build a winning ethos by not losing for a spell to create the identity of not losing.
That's more important than hit and miss attacking.
At this stage of the season. It worked last time, too. And the time before that. And the one before that. Oh! and the one before that, too.

Look JimmyRobbo, I know up until now I've come across as confrontational, frustration on my part. That's not what I meant and I apologize for that but this squad that we have now is nowhere near as good as 2 years ago. I just can't see where the goals are coming from this team we have now.JimmyRobbo wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:23 pmI think that you build a winning ethos by not losing for a spell to create the identity of not losing.

No problem. Absolutely no need to apologise. I apologisee for making you feel that way when we probably both have the same feelings.MG70 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 05, 2024 3:50 pmLook JimmyRobbo, I know up until now I've come across as confrontational, frustration on my part. I'm equally as frustrated by it! We all are and I think you're right. I can't see the goals, either. You can check my posts on the match thread.
I think we desperately need some presence upfield. I hate how we always appear to cut inside and retain possession rather than pushing for a goal. I hope I'm right in standing back and giving the benefit of the doubt. I did with VK and the chanp season worked out well. I did last year and then he uopped and run.
