UK factory growth hits seven month low
Breaking: British factory growth hit a seven-month low last month, as Britain failed to keep pace with the eurozone.

Data firm Markit’s monthly PMI index of UK manufacturing dropped to 55.3 in January, down from December’s 56.5.

That shows that growth slowed, but it’s still above the long-term average.

UK factories say that output growth, and new order growth, both weakened last month. Raw material costs spiked -- pushing input costs up, and forcing UK firms to raise their prices.

But more optimistically, UK firms did see a rise in export orders.

Markit says:

Foreign demand improved at one of the quickest rates over the past four years. There were reports of increased sales to clients in North America, China, mainland Europe, the Middle East and Japan.

You call it trolling Lancs.

I'd say just shining a light on what may be ahead.

Less or no tax payer funding for smaller , usually eurosceptic, parties.

More decisions would be taken by qualified majority votes, including on sensitive areas such as tax.

An EU "defence force" all agreed and signed up.

Trans European parties getting more funding.

Appointed supra national ministers that can potentially over ride a nations fiscal and monetary policy has been suggestd.

All looks very federal to me lancs. Not of it doing the cause of national sovereignty any favours eh?

That's a lot of words just to avoid saying you stated something that you can't back up with any evidence. The debate isn't really whether he can or cannot be described as an arch appeaser, encouraged a peace deal in 1940, etc, it's whether the things you write have any basis in fact.

If we'd wanted to maintain our national sovereignty above all else we could probably have just sat out WWII. Invoking the Churchill and the war is just a bit jingoistic.

Thanks for asking.

Talking if Martin p, anybody seen him? He promised he was going to bump up the post that showed that I said" if you didn't vote for brexit you can't call yourself a Burnleyite"

It's been nearly 24 hours since he made that claim. Still no comeback. Still no post showing I'd said it.

And it's a bit rich cos he wanted me to bump up the post that proved he'd claimed that "there was no clear majority!"   Sorry, still cracks me up that one!

And I was true to my word I bumped it up.

No, it's was the truest expression of defending national sovereignty. But if you see defeating a tyrannical dictator responsible for the deaths, as "jingoistic," then fill your PC boots aggi. By all means do it.

Also.

Can I suggest you start a new thread. Titled "Kerr, appeaser or not?" You can debate the subject till your hearts content fella.

Ringo, can you confirm for me the total electorate in Burnley for the referendum, and the number of people who voted for brexit?

I'll give you a clue: the figures have already been provided right here in this thread.

Based on an electorate of 64,458, 14,462 voted to remain. (22% opting not to change the status quo)

On an electorate of 64,458, 28,854 Burnley residents voted to leave. (44.76% opting to change the status quo)

Roughly 21000 didn't vote. They didn't feel the need to express an opinion thru the ballot box. There fore it's fair to assume when it come to EU membership, they have NO opinion.

Given I think Leaving the EU is a good idea. If I walked down st James st, i'd expect to meet quite a lot of people who have NO opinion. They neither agree nor disagree with me. But by a ratio of 2 to 1, id expect to meet more people who think that Leaving the EU is a good idea. In other words, the majority.

So you're confirming that a minority of people in Burnley voted to leave the EU?

64458 - 28854 = 35,604.

Are you in agreement that the number of people who didn't vote to leave the EU, 35,604, is larger than the people who did vote to leave the EU, 28,854?

You're either innumerate with no capacity for logical thinking or a nutcase on the windup.

In case it's the former, I'll ask again and see if you can answer a simple question with a simple answer.

Was your original statement that the majority of people in Burnley agree with you?

You didn't say 'who voted' Josh.

You said: 'given two thirds of Burnleyites voted to Leave'

Three thirds (ie 100%) of Burnleyites is 64458.

2/3rds of Burnleyites is 42,972.

1/2 of Burnleyites is 32,229

The number of Burnleyites who voted Leave is 28,854.

Actually - no.
His original statement was that the people who sit around about me at the next home game would agree with him.
Then when I conclusively proved that he couldn't possibly know where I sit, who with, where they come from, their age, demographics, ethnicity etc, and that there was no statistical basis for it, (after a couple of pages of swerving), he changed it to the majority of people in Burnley.

No it would have been easier if the gaggle of Remoaners had taken what id said in the spirit it was obviously meant to taken. But no, you seized upon it as an opportunity to try and get one over on me. Be honest, cos it was me, my words have been forensically disected. And all along common sense should tell any objective fair minded person knew what I meant.

A blind man on a galloping horse can see that in a town where 66.6% voted to Leave. The majority would agree with me, as another Leaver.

Including those who didn't vote is childish.

Can I ask you a simple question?

Do you know what "abstain" means?

Let's go back to primary school maths.

Please could you confirm which numbers are greater?

Is 28,854 greater than 42,972?

Is 28,854 greater than 32,229?

is 44.76 greater than 66.66?

In the meetings that I attend, it usually means you don't support either the proposal or the amendment, so in other words an abstainer wouldn't be supporting your position.

Ok

4 people in a room.

They decide to have a vote as to whether they leave the room by a simple majority vote.

I propose to leave, and another person puts their hand up in support

1 votes to remain

1 abstains

We then leave the room.

Did more people agree with me or disagree with me?

Over to you.

He's already admitted that the the abstainers don't agree with him.

At this point I'm convinced he's trolling and I give up.
You refuse to admit that abstained didn't disagree with me. I'm convinced you're trolling.

You still haven't answered. The bigger number 14 or 28?

I've shown this to the office at work and everyone is laughing at you Ringo.

Literally everyone is laughing at you.

'How f*cking thick is he?

'I always knew Burnley fans were dense but he takes the biscuit'

'I'm surprised he can spell Ringo'

'Did that guy even go to school?'

If you could do basic, primary school level maths you'd be actually employable.

4 people in a room.

They decide to have a vote as to whether they leave the room by a simple majority vote.

I propose to leave, and another person puts their hand up in support

1 votes to remain

1 abstains

We then leave the room.

Did more people agree with me or disagree with me?

Over to you.

If there were 100 people in the room (including you) and 44 other people agreed with you

Did more people agree or disagree with you?

It’s almost if you could say the majority of people in the room who voted agreed with me.

If you started saying the majority of people in the room agreed with me they’d start laughing at you.

I logged on to see if anything new and interesting was being discussed, and amazingly people are still trying to pick apart Ringo’s factually correct analysis of the Burnley vote.

It’s a bit like saying Blair didn’t deserve to be PM because he could only muster 13m votes and the total turnout for all three election wins was the lowest at the time since the war. Of course he deserved to be PM, just like Burnley folk deserve to see us exit the EU, as does the UK as a whole. Ringo can sometimes be a bit daft to rise to all the patronising stuff thrown at him but Remainers trying to somehow push this stance is sillier than he ever is.

It’s starting to look on here a bit like other forms of social media where using FBPE in the user name is becoming a sign of being slightly deranged. Let’s get back to intelligent debate.

Just a straight forward answer please.

2 leave

1 remain

1 abstain.

Did more people agree with the decision to leave or Remain.

There's a clue in the fact that we left the room.

I know that you know it's very difficult for you to admit it.

But try your best. You simply can't can you. :D
