Tone it down a bit, Vegas. You had me going in to meltdown last night over this attack on an American airbase. When I looked into it, I found that it’s not an unusual occurrence. It happens all the time. Missiles are fired all the time at this location, i.e. the same as the border explosions that Israel has to endure on a regular basis. The last one occurred on the 3rd of March and didn’t even make the papers.

As my hobby is military stuff and my actual job for years was logistics this is right up my street

I would imagine Russia's original logistic hope was to control the air space and an airport. Have they got control of any northern or eastern airports?

I should imagine Ukraine have agents in Moscow actively looking for Putin now, they have great Intel from the West and sympathisers in Russia, it might be the only way to stop the slaughter.

When we talk land mines I am sure they would have been used in land at certain points but the possibility of blowing your own people up who don’t know they are there would probably be why we haven’t seen it much if it all inland. There was a video about a week ago of a mine layer laying mines on the beaches around Odessa etc so they have 100% been used on the coast.

IEDs I don’t see them being used in a conventional war which we are seeing at the minute although we have seen Molotov cocktails used which isn’t the same but I guess is sort of an IED. As/ if the invasion progresses into a full on occupation then we will probably start to see IEDs come into the equation more.

It's easy to see why these things are taken out of of context, in isolation. My bad, I bought it.
I'm glad it isn't linked to Ukraine, but more sensationalist journalism.

Nothing on the Thread, but journalism itself has gone to the dogs. I watched a very interesting video of Denzel Washington, berating journalists for delivering opinionews. Any topic 3 on the right argue one side, 3 on the other argue the opposite. We don't need opinions, we just need facts. We can all form our own opinions. I used to catch the news for an hour at least once a day, I never really bought newspapers, apart from Saturdays for the sport, but I'd always pick up someone elses to have a read. I think it was during all the Brexit 'debate', that I switched off. I never watch the news anymore, never buy or read a newspaper, I can get most of the facts I need from living my life and catching snippets from others. This thread being a prime example. It's dangerous reading the papers, or watching the news, because 90% of the time all you are getting is opinions, and opinions can be very biased, facts can't.

It seems too convenient for Russia, I’ll grant you. But with Syria and Israel trading blows (both have been accused of being too close to Putin, India firing into Pakistan (they say by accident) and Iran firing at US in Iraq… at the very least it seems the Dictators of this world seem to be striking out while the West has other problems… either for own self interest or as part of a wider destabilising movement of rogue states.

If he wants to drag us in , there are a number of US military Blackhawk helicopters that keep flying from an airport just in side Poland ( think it’s Poland).
