truly awful performance in the cup yet again.
if he thinks some of them are pushing for the first team he needs to think again.
Yet again Tarks and Long concede 2

Tarks still miffed about getting a ticket on his car. He only had paid for 90 mins
Be reight. At least it's not Accy Stanley knocking us out this year.

No disgrace losing to the biggest team in football ever
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
Defour sub is baffling.
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
Good pens from Leeds, looked more confident than we did.

Predictable. Never understand why the "flair" players with a bit more craft don't take them. Cork, Defour etc. One of them would have taken no 5 obviously. Can't knock Tarks for trying though.
A word on Leeds pens - stunning.

I'd rather Defour was last if the penalty was the decider.

No saving any of those Leeds pens.

Stuck at work, snippets off the radio, mostly news from this thread.
When you waste the chances that it sounds like we did, you deserve **** all. You make your own luck in life, and the players let us down tonight. Really ****** off.
It happens sometimes I know, but we blew the WBA game as well.
I hope SD let's them know about it.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
Sounds like a bit of a "reality check" for the Burnley team v an understrength team
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
We just aren't good enough with the ball when teams sit back, Accy Stanley, Lincoln, West Brom a few occasions.

Yeah, any other day and I reckon Pope could have had 2 or 3 of those, he went the right way, they were just too far in the corner to be possible to get to.Tall Paul wrote:No saving any of those Leeds pens.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
Didn't fancy Tark to score. We bring the people on who can affect the game too late. Rotten record in the cups. The first team picks itself again and some have had a rest.

Disappointing, poor penalty from Tarks and a baffling fourth pick when you have Defour available.
Annoying night, and a final word that the referee was an absolute joke. Get back to pub football whoever you are.

3-2 in their cup final, shows you how far Leeds have fallen that they celebrate a win like promotion in the mickey mouse cup. We were utter shite

If the 5th pen was the decider who would you want?
We also don't know which players put their hands up to take a penalty.
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
Aye, you mean like Spurs did for the last 20 mins at Wembley? That worked out badly didn't it?KRBFC wrote:We just aren't good enough with the ball when teams sit back, Accy Stanley, Lincoln, West Brom a few occasions.
90% of the teams in the Championship sat back against us and guess what, we got promoted!

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
OK let's break this down into simple sentences for you.joey13 wrote:Defour coming on a minute from time is a clue
1- Do you know which players offered to take a penalty?
If no one else wanted to take one, but Tarks did, then that's not his fault.
2- I assume that once the takers is decided then the order is sorted BEFORE they start.
3- Dyche probably has input into what the order is, not solely the players.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
If the others didn't want to take one would you rather Tarks face the potential pressure of the 5th deciding penalty?joey13 wrote:I know Tarkowski shouldn't have been taking a pen before Defour or Cork even Bardsley
You ask me if I could be any dimmer yet you're struggling to get your head around this simple query.
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
He missed , he's a defender, he shouldn't have been taking one before Defour or Cork , it's not difficult, even for you surely.Sidney1st wrote:If the others didn't want to take one would you rather Tarks face the potential pressure of the 5th deciding penalty?

Centre halfs don't take penaltys simple.
Bad management decision

It's an inevitable loss in a crap competition, and not one to be overly fussed about. Onward!
Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
We failed to win because just like the West Brom game we had countless shots that didnt hit the target. We need that extra bit of quality and composure to put teams to bed.
Penalties are always a lottery, unfortunately it went leeds' way tonight. Hats off to Tarkowski for stepping up as Captain and taking one.

Re: Mighty Clarets versus Bill and Ben's mates
The extra bit of quality matters, its just the nature or the magic of it. The underdogs are always going to play better with nothing to lose. We're the ones used to being the underdogs and we struggle to take points in games when we are not anymore as we lack the quality in front of goal.
Asking for it by resting our best players, happens to the very best of teams.
If Wood started it may have been different but we are so one dimensional in attack it really makes it easy to defend against us. Leeds even had a full back at centre half and our two target men up front were pretty bad.
Bring on Wells I say, even if he isn't very good its still something different which we needed desperately today with Leeds pressing so far up the pitch.

Are you intentionally avoiding that part or being really dim?
Or just picking an argument for the sake of it?

That's not how I remember it. We played a long ball game and defended like Trojans. Pretty much the same as last season. This season Dyche seems to be playing a little bit more football. No way did any teams sit back against us thoughSpijed wrote:Aye, you mean like Spurs did for the last 20 mins at Wembley? That worked out badly didn't it?
