I wish the ECB would draw a line in the sand and admit we aren’t very good at test Cricket especially away from home we are reasonably competitive at home though as you would expect.

We were awful in India last winter just as bad as this tour I think apart from the first test. They come up with the same buzzwords after each defeat there are positives we have lessons to learn etc. they must have been awful at School the amount of lessons they have and none of them agave learned anything. Just say it as it is the one time root did that he got a response off his bowlers.

I wonder if James Vince would be a good option for Captain after this series, I know he has flattered to deceive up to now but the captaincy may settle him down. I have no idea who should open could Banton do a trescothic for us not sure. I think Malan has done enough to stay at 3 root 4 Vince 5 maybe 6 stokes 7 we have to play our best WK so Foakes must play for me. Bowling wise 1 spinner I would look at either Parkinson or is it Virdi or vardi at Surrey both in the right circumstance and stick with them. I think pace bowling wise we are not to bad but we have to have the extra pace of a wood, Archer, stone when fit would Jamie Overton be an option? Anderson and Broad I don’t mind playing 1 but not both now as great as they both are.

Kirsten has said he wants the job. Hopefully there won’t be a token homegrown appointment with a more impressive PowerPoint presentation this time.

Gary Kirsten would be a good shout…he improved India and South Africa during his time as coach and is also a very good batting coach who according to the players said he vastly improved their technique which is something our batters desperately need

Interesting that he has already been looking at English batsmen. He also picked Vince as the one with potentially a solid technique. From the brief interview, he stopped there, so probably couldn't find another five.
