Get the majority of our injured players back and we only need 1, maybe 2 players in come January.

Re: Sack him now
I echo your comments on both these. Worrall was so slow it was painful. I've no doubt he's a decent pro but I wasn't exactly hanging my hat on him being a great success. Selling Al Dakhil for £9m and paying upward of £7m for Worrall doesn't look a great trade. Al Dakhil was raw, but he was more than capable at Championship level.
Flemming hasn't really impressed me yet. He puts himself about, and his header at Sheff Weds showed what he's capable of, but he's a Championship striker / no.10, nothing more. We've been watching Foster amble around for that long it's made Flemming look better than he's been. We would have been better holding onto Twine and Obafemi and using them!
We spent about £18m on Hannibal, Worrall and Hountondji. Pires at £2m could still come good and Laurent at £1m is a squad filler, but we made some poor decisions late in the window.

Re: Sack him now
I keep reading that people seem to be hoping that Tresor, Ramsey and Redmond will be our saviors this season. I thought that Tresor and Ramsey were bloody awful last season before their injuries /illnesses and said so on here. Redmond?... he had a couple of nice moments before his injury, but he but he's no game changer. Worrall and Egan are no better than our current CBs. It's going to be a long, but hard winter I fear unless Parker can breath some desire and fight and identity into this young squad.

Kompany played Jay Rod, Brownhill, Roberts and also JBG in the PL.NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 9:03 pmTo be honest, after the moves away I’m not sure VK was left with any PL players. None of them would have got game time at other PL clubs, anyway. The PL players got moves to the PL.
Same as Parker, really, but he inherited a lot of players that have been promoted from this division - Beyer, Ekdal, Benson, Cullen, Brownhill, Roberts, Hladky (signed very early), which Kompany didn’t.
He arguably would have played Cork and arguably Barnes if they had been a year younger and with hindsight they would both have done a job given we only managed 24 points anyway.
Roberts aside they were head and shoulders above Championship level even if a little long in the tooth for the PL.

I agree and also think we should have kept Amdouni. I'm sorry but lots of players want moves and don't get them...!jlup1980 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 12:45 pmI echo your comments on both these. The problem with dull negative (safe) football is that it is only tolerated when results are good.
There is negative football for example Dycheball but even the worst of Dycheball is a lot better then any version of Parkerball. There is just no action at all under Parker, it’s like a training session, no action intensity or desire to do anything other than keep the ball.
If results in the next 5-6 games match the last 5-6 games the majority of fans will be hounding him out.

7m for Worrall?, I didn't think it was anywhere near that,jlup1980 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 12:45 pmI echo your comments on both these. Worrall was so slow it was painful. Hannibal was about 5m so Hountondji must have been very expensive, unless your figures are vastly inflated to get it to 18m

Re: Sack him now
Posters now claiming Twine and Obefemi would have changed our fortunes-really ??. As posters often state on this forum when not playing for Burnley or get dropped from the team, then players get better overnight. I am sure if Rodriguez had not featured this season that he would have been our saviour
Re: Sack him now
Sorry, I got that wrong! It should have been £16m. Transfermarkt has Hannibal at 6.4, Worrall 5.9 and Hountondji 4. Still too much for all of them. Hannibal looks very limited for an International footballer. Mind you, his only proper run in a team was Birmingham the other year. He barely got a kick at United or Seville.
Re: Sack him now
The classic UTC inflation of transfer fees for players they don’t like. Trafford’s fee gradually increased over last season.
Laurent reported as £500k rising to a £1m dependent on clauses, which might never be met.
Re: Sack him now
I'm not suggesting they would have been amazing but Jay is a busted flush and Hountondji looks miles off the pace. You're not telling me Obafemi would have offered less than those two so far?warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 06, 2024 6:13 pmPosters now claiming Twine and Obefemi would have changed our fortunes-really ??. The thing with Twine is we're in need of a bit of creativity. Someone who can link the midfield and the attack. Bristol City fans raved about him last season at this level. Again, you can't tell me he would have created less than Hannibal for example, as Hannibal has yet to do anything in the attacking third? I just think we did a lot of business for the sake of it and ended up no better for it.
