Fair play to Foster for a much better 2nd half.
Rovers lose.

Good win but should’ve been so much more comfortable. UTC

A win is a win at this stage. Good first half, the usual cautious second. On another day we would have scored 4 or 5. Move on.
One day we're going to absolutely muller a team at home, so many chances, but I'll take the 3pts and move on

Really enjoyed that. Good intensity from us, a proper performance despite not scoring more than I thought we should have. We needed that win.

Said at HT Laurent off, Shelvey on. Laurent was awful and just plodded around the pitch. If we are not going to bring a striker in then make the changes earlier. Anthony was shagged after 70 minutes so bring on Edwards. Fleming was a passenger and Lyle should have gone to the No 9 slot

I said it was all about performance tonight. We've been shite in front of goal, but at least we had shots on target. Still a lot to do, but better. SP has to make sure it's the norm now.

The football is turgid.

Get to the end of the season and get rid of Parker, whatever league we are in.

Dreadful stuff
Totally disagree

We were exceptional tonight.

That could and probably should have been at least 4.

They deserved that it was a dominant performance only let down by finishing.

Edwards will be a starter, but it's no surprise he's not been involved tonight. Benson would've come on before him. Shelvey hasn't played much football, he's now establishing himself on the bench. He too will get more game time as he gets sharper in training I'm sure. Maybe with a start in the cup?

Good performance. Very happy to get the win and up to second.
I understand that people get ****** off for eg. a substitution isn’t made. Problem is you don’t have the information Parker does, he’s not stupid, as evidenced by our position in the table.
Give him and the team a break!

Quality 1st half - should have been at least 2 up if not 3 - and a subdued 2nd half, but we were very comfortable. Traffor had literally nothing to do. The danger, as always, with a 1-goal lead is a stroke of luck for the opposition, a set-piece or a mistake. Fortunately, their only chance, at the end of the 1st half, wasn't taken and we were worthy winners. Job done. A few players could've done a bit more 2nd half but this was a good night overall.

We created more chances than usual, albeit against a poor team. Foster was our best attacking player in the second half, Anthony had his normal good first fifteen minutes then did his usual disappearing act, Esteve plays at a different level and pace than everyone else in this division, Laurent is simply too slow to influence the game, Shelley came on in the 89th minute and made the best forward pass I’ve seen from a Burnley player this season, when the game got to 70 minutes Parker did his normal thing by bringing on Sarmiento as sub.
Although we were brighter than we have been recently, Oxford were crap. I’m sorry but I still think we are way off being a top Championship outfit.

I know what you mean. I'm worried though that Parker's caution with both tactics, selection, and subs etc, is going to undo us ultimately.

Yep, think you've made a lot of sense this evening warksclaret.

Laurent isn't going to hurt teams with the football and when Roberts pushes into midfield we end up with too many bodies too deep with Flemming isolated, particularly when the opposition sit back, that's when the build up gets slow and ponderous. Swapping Laurent for a number 10 will enable us to play through teams a little easier.

Anthony gives everything and was fantastic for 45 minutes. If he had an ounce of end product he'd be exceptional at this level. He was clearly shattered so worthwhile seeing if Benson still has the magic dust for us.

Good performance overall and should have been out of sight in the first half.

Didn't mind so much tonight, but if we're nil nil with an obvious lack of intent and edge he leaves it far too long for me. And when he does make changes often they're like for like. So I agree there, I'd like to see us back ourselves for 3 points instead of 1 a little more often

Better performance tonight. Should have been 3+ but a win is a win. Seem to have more intent and urgency going forward. Hannibal in the free role played well. He’s really good with the ball at his feet. Foster getting sick but I thought he had a good game. His pace when running into space with the ball in scary.

Lets hope we kick on from here. Edwards and benson on the bench, plus Luca are all really good options and healthy competition.

Shelvey for laurent would liven up the midfield. We have a really strong squad on paper, no reason why we cannot put a good run together and challenge leeds.
