Joe Hart incoming ?
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Tom has the number 1
The Sun report is not quite as posted above. In the absence of Tom and Nick Joe is first choice
"Hart has taken the opportunity Sean Dyche has offered of starting the season as his first-choice goalkeeper following injuries to Nick Pope and Tom Heaton.
Pope is out long-term and Heaton has a calf problem, prompting Dyche to move for Hart ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener at Southampton."

From breaking news, last Friday, this should have been done. Is he holding out for a better offer?

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Courtois situation will have a chain of events that may affect this
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Depends if he wants to play or just collect a wage. He has a year left at City, doesn't want to go out on loan again, has apparently a salary £6million/year and City want rid. Seems like the £4million we pay up front will go via City into his bank account and he gets £40k/week from us so that he is no worse off moving here for 12 months. We and he then have to decide which keepers stay in January 2019 and the summer and a lot will depend on how fit Tom and Nick become post serious shoulder injuries.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Talksport seem to think the deal is done. Would be a good signing.

GK and centre half in. Just need a midfielder and a no.10 for a whole new spine. Be a decent window then.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Good news to have secured cover with a keeper of such high calibre.
But spare a thought for Nick Pope. Back from England duty on a high, and playing his way into the England squad, cos his team mate wasn't fit. Then suffers a similar injury that his team mate sustained ( and I team mate cos I'm sure they're mates, as keepers are a special bread spending a lot of time together from what I understand ) now he's sidelined himself.
Similarly, Tom. Enjoying the form of his career. Sustains a nasty injury. Recovers while he sees his replacement flourish. Looks set to get an opportunity to challenge for it back. Then gets a further injury and the chain of events mean there's another potential rival for , prior to his injury, had seen his shirt for the foreseeable future.
Gutted for both lads.
Don't get me wrong I'm chuffed with Hart coming in. But, id prefer he wasn't, and Nick and Tom were were both match fit.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
This should really give the lads a boost knowing that we can now attract players of this calibre.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Good news. And tbh i think it will be brilliant for Tom and Nick as there are 3 quality keepers all pushing each other forward.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
Has he signed? Or we going on reports saying we are going to?
Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
If and when he signs the club need crediting for swift action to get him in after Nick's injury. They often get berated for transfer window hesitancy. UTC.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
It'll be interesting to see how this pans out...
I feel positive about it.
I wonder how the wages have been worked out.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
I too am worried about what sort of wages we are paying him..
We already have 2 very good keepers, although they are injured.. but they won't be injured forever.
Could be an expensive 3rd choice keeper

Remember, back in the day, when our second choice ‘Keeper was Luigi Cennamo, Frank Petter Kval, or,(gulp!) Wayne Russell?

So how long would you be prepared to gamble with just Lindegaard and Legzdins?Wembley09 wrote:I too am worried about what sort of wages we are paying him..

Till the end of September? October? December?
Absolutely the correct decision to take in our current position.
We now have 2 "very good goalkeepers" fit and available, and if we are a serious PL team, then that's how it has to be.

Re: Joe Hart incoming ?
For the first time in my lifetime Burnley can probably claim to have one of the best players in the world in their position.
Let us remember, he is in his prime at 31, he has over 50 England caps, we traditionally have superb keepers compared to other countries, and he has won the PL golden glove 4 times.
He is bang out of form for at least 2 years, but that will be in his mind, and if Dyche and Mercer can remove that, he could be the player he was.
