To people saying underwhelming signing, on the face of it, it’s understandable. However, we have shown these last 7 games or so we don’t actual require goals from strikers. He’s also still quite young at 24 so will improve. If he can improve the team and hold the ball and bring others into play he could turn out to be an astute signing.

because he's not good enough for the Premier League, I'm surprised we are being linked with him tbh

Underwhelming signing if that’s true
I agree, he’s never been able to even secure a first team spot in the championship. The most apps he’s had in a season is 29.

Was hoping for considerably better

I think if true surridge would be a clever signing either loan or to buy, something to prove, a team on the up

Think that’s my overriding thought. Was really hoping we’d be making one or two Prem-quality additions (if letting players go).

If we’d been linked with a striker from the continent who’d scored 7 goals in 17 games last season we’d have posters on here creaming themselves silly and logging into flight tracking websites.

IF this lad signs on loan or whatever, let’s give him a chance. I think Kompany knows a thing or two about decent recruitment.

Promoted last season, at this stage in the position we are in it is about mentality and psychological as much as anything. Could be a shrewd one.

I mean to be fair KSR his stats last season were 9 in 37 games.

He just had a good spell at Forrest.

If Kompany wants Surridge, that's fine by me. Did well for Forest last season, biggish unit, decent age (he's only 24). He's not a million miles from the template for what we need although I accept its a bit odd he's not been used more by Forest this season.

Very good spell. Goal every game (per minutes). Helped win them promotion, which is kinda the aim from here!

Probably because they tried to buy themselves safety rather stick to the side that helped get them there…hope they go down

Obviously a key component for Forest on their promotion charge - hat trick against Swansea, started both play off semi finals against Sheff Utd.

To be fair it was more just correcting KSR.

Agreed, but should we not be signing someone that will potentially feature next year?

Just seems a strange signing, someone that will potentially play a few games for us second half of the season and then I assume the club will look to upgrade in 6 months time.

I just don’t get how Churlinov will be a club favourite, I just can’t see him getting the game time. He’s get to get ahead of Benson, Zaroury, Gudmundsson and potentially twine.
JBG won’t be around much longer - and let’s be honest if Zaroury and Benson carry on they will potentially attract large bids that we may or may not be able to turn down.

I believe he will be a good player for us

I’m not sure many would be “creaming themselves” over a European striker with 9 in 37 last season.

They would at a goal every 87 minutes though.

Most of them appearances were for a poor Stoke team.

I wonder how many times the phrase "i was hoping for better" was used when we picked up Benson/Tella/Zaroury/Cullen etc?

VK reckons the lad can do a job in this team, that'll do me.

Which bit of the last 4 or 5 months did you not understand ?……other than all of it ?
Did you “cream” yourself over Tella’s stats ? What about Benson or Zaroury ? How were the stats for Josh Brownhill before he played under VK ?

Right now if VK wants to sign a 63 year old Billy Whitehurst to play up front who the hell are any of us to question him ?!!!

I think I mentioned somewhere earlier in the season that I think he’d be a decent signing for us. Big, quite mobile,
Can play a bit and seems to score goals when he’s playing regularly.

Haha chill out Vincent.

The players you have mentioned were all complete unknowns. This is someone that has played his whole career in the English game and people have been able to see his ability. He might be ok just underwhelmed, thought we would be signing a striker with pedigree

Just got a text of a mate to say we’ve been linked with combative centre forward Billy Whitehurst. Not sure if he fits our profile but in VK we trust. Could suggest that Barnes is off though.

Not like he was against our first team was it.

Haha chill out Vincent.

The players you have mentioned were all complete unknowns. This is someone that has played his whole career in the English game and people have been able to see his ability. He might be ok just underwhelmed, thought we would be signing a striker with pedigree
He’s younger than Benson !!
Tella played plenty of times for Saints last year.

But you are kind of missing the point - ie if he is good enough for VK then given his eye for a player so far you are hardly in a position to question that because you have googled his statistics.

For what we need for the next few months we don’t have to sign the next Mbappe. We are flying at the top what with we have now and VK will be likely looking to ensure we are no weaker a squad come the end of January and have what it takes to win this league. Anything beyond this season he will deal with in the summer when his budget will look very different as will his task in hopefully keeping us in the Premier League.

Whilst not prolific, Surridge is a strong running forward with a physical presence and a nuisance factor. A little bit like a poor man’s Jamie Vardy.

As goals are coming from all over the pitch we need someone who can give us another dimension.

As others have said, if this is who we get then who are we to judge this manager after the last 6 months.
