Is this going to massively dent our confidence? Really hope not.
Nope not in anyway, just shows and tells the players they have a long way to go. We’re 21st in the league

It’ll be really interesting to see how Kompany approaches this sort of game next season. As much as it’s a learning curve for the players, I suspect it’s one for him too.
It’s a game Mr Pace should learn from too.

Absolutely it's a learning curve. It's invaluable! Do you want us to play Huddersfield at home or have a go against Man City in the QF of the cup? You go for the latter and learn from the defeat.

The aggregate score over the last 5 years must resemble a one sided rugby game

You’re off your tits if you’re using these as the yardstick for the gulf in class between the Premier League and the Championship.

Do we need to invest? Yes.

Will that investment make a significant difference against the likes of City? Probably not.

Come on - at least have some balance.
This is the gulf between the best club team in the world (and they have been for years really) and the Championship. Newcastle is delusional, pretending this is just PL v Champ gulf, like any of the other PL sides are as good as this City side.

Not a criticism but its interesting how Cullen has not been as effectual tonight admittedly against probably the best side in the world, but clearly for me needs some extra support in there next year , so a summer midfield maestro is a bit of a must for me

He’s had all the time he’s needed this season.

The concern is can he be effective when he’s not afforded that time - I’m not sure on that one although he’s up against top players and hasn’t really had much support in there tonight.

Er’ I think he’s smart enough to try and get investors from anywhere, but he needs to support VK to bring in quality to survive in the PL, although I think this side will not get relegated next season.

If we're wanting to compete with Man City then we'll need better than Cullen as well.

We'll need a new team and a very expensive one at that.

I’ve mentioned this before on here, but this gap between the likes of City and clubs like ours is slowly but surely destroying the game IMO. If we are not careful, the game will slowly become like F1……a year long pointless procession that nobody gives a **** about!

For me, it shows we need to improve our midfield as a priority in the summer. Everything stemmed from us being overrun in midfield.

Been caught on the ball a lot tonight - like the rest of our midfield he lacks any pace

But tonight clearly shows the likes of Cork and JBG are way behind him and both should not be starting next season

Don’t think it’s City we need to compete with in the Premier League. Dicked RB Leipzig 7 in the champions league

I think we need a bit more pace at the back too.

But I think it's something that Kompany is well aware of. I don't believe Dyche really knew what we needed. He looked a bit lost when it came to transfers.

He's still our best midfielder, it's the others that need to either step up their game or get replaced.

That's a worry we lose VK early as let's be honest the club next season would settle right now for 4th from bottom finish on goal difference - like alot of clubs survival the only ambition. Look at this season Villa 11th and 11 points clear of 12th and 12th to 20th just 4 points between the lot of them.

Couldn’t have started worse with Shearer doing the arse licking talking about no Match of the Day last week,we don’t need major changes for next season ,we’ll wipe the floor with the bottom half of the Prem.

My concern was that Connor Roberts was so often out of position, allowing City's players the space to hurt us. He has been great in recent games but tonight was lost I thought.
