That's Bairstows catch.

All day, every day.

We can't try to blag it without a keeper again after this.

How on earth has a ball gone between keeper & first slip without either moving? Keeper should be getting that.
That's been the difference between the teams ....Australia have taken those chances.

It's hard to move sideways when your legs are so far apart.

I was thinking we won't be playing a spinner in the next test so we could get away with Bairstow.
He's struggled stood back.

The insane declaration could cost us big time. Can’t see our bowlers taking 10 wickets. The Aussies will just grind it out

Parkinson will leave Lancashire for Kent at the end of the 2023 season.

I know he hasn’t been playing much but it seems a daft decision by Lancs.

Nothing lasts forever.

There's one decent seat left in the Longside upper for a new season ticket next season.

The understatement of the year......plus the fact their key batsmen look far more confident at the crease than ours.

Feel free to explain the benefit of declaring on the first day of a test match when your best batter is 100 plus not out. I am clearly missing something

Limit the scoring, another wicket or being greedy two tonight and tomorrow's conditions should suit the bowlers.

I was surprised we did that but you have to expect the unexpected with Ben Stokes as captain. He did some things last summer that appeared bizarre but they won us the games.

Said earlier on commentary about 5,000 tickets available for tomorrow, £25 adults and £5 kids, that was around 2pm this afternoon so some might have gone by now.

Edit: Only limited tickets left according to Edgbaston website - https://tickets.edgbaston.com/selection ... cking=true

Wow, done well to sell so many.

I clicked on that earlier but I just didn't think it had been updated from today

Agreed, if Australia get this total with eight/nine wickets down, he's going to look a proper " eejit " when he's probably thrown 20-40 runs away by declaring in a first innings with England's best batman of the last decade on 118 not out, and 2 wickets in hand ....

But...but Broad and Anderson are busted flushes...it says so further up the thread.

Anderson could easily have picked up 2 wickets in his first two overs in his least favourable conditions btw.

With the caveat he would have been batting with number 10 and 11, so no guarantee they stick around for long enough

The reality here is that it's a very understandable low-cost gamble... A wicket, or even two in that last few overs and it would have been hailed as a masterstroke...it didn't pay off..on another day it would. Que sera....not worth arguing about.

Asking your bowlers to perform at this level with a third-rate wicket keeper however, is another story.

Completely agree, it was a gamble that cost fewer runs than the keeper has cost in this innings alone

A full Edgbaston could prove again to be our 12th man tomorrow. The Hollies Stand will be bouncing.

In addition, the good old English weather might be a godsend for our seamers.

5Live reporting it has stopped raining at Edgbaston but no play until 13:10 at the earliest, however from then we should have two full sessions of cricket with conditions favouring the bowlers.

12:30 lunch would give us a 1:10 start. Hopefully will get two full sessions in. This test match deserves a result.
