So many conflicting opinions. I thought we played fantastic. OK, we should've scored more but honestly people who say that the performance was turgid or boring, or lacking commitment and quality .... did they really watch or are they just looking at the scoreline and the fact it was an og?

The BBC match report comments are even more hilarious and outrageous. So many fake comments on a game they clearly didn't view.

Other than the first 12 mins I thought it was a dire watch, quality in the final third was non existent but 3 points is 3 points.

For as good and organised as we were at the back, we were quite the opposite up top. Flemming non-existent. Anthony struggled and his final ball was awful tonight. Foster was by far the best of the three and missed an absolute sitter.

Oxford are a really poor team and we beat them due to a lucky OG. Yes we created some excellent chances first half, but the point is we didn't finish them.

Our goal scoring problem still persists.

Oh and a word for Hannibal who was really hard done to by the ref tonight.

My confidence in Foster and Hannibal increased after tonight. So important to get that win after so many early missed chances.
As things stand tonight I think we are going to go very close

Agree. Thought Hannibal had his best game (although I am just viewing from my armchair).

Any fans who have season tickets and didn’t turn up tonight just because of the style of play, should be ashamed, support or team, embarrassing from the match going fans tonight, I stay till the end to clap them off, yes the over celebrating can be abit much at times but tonight there wasn’t anybody left.

We have a new signing in Edwards who needs to see what a great fanbase we can be

Are you quite sure about that? They are certainly nowhere near the worst team to visit Turf Moor this season, and before tonight were unbeaten in 9.

Not really, all of last season was dire getting battered every week and all this season has been awful to watch at home. Leeds game was absolutely shocking and tonight wasn’t a great watch either against a rank bad side. No one’s saying we aren’t doing well, but sitting through it is an endurance sport in itself.

There is nothing enjoyable about going on the Turf and there hasn’t been for about 2 years now. The lack of any atmosphere all season and all the empty seats tonight would suggest other people think this too.

Regardless of how we are playing and the results I still enjoy going to the turf and always will, Burnley fans constantly give rovers fans stick about their attendances and if we aren’t careful we will be the same. 22 other teams would love to be in our league position right now and anyone saying they would rather be 7th or 8th playing entertaining football is talking rubbish.

You talk about the atmosphere which is a point but had we taken our chances in the first half and come our second half 4-0 up the atmosphere would still of been dead. It was like that under kompany, games against Wigan, Huddersfield spring to mind as the atmosphere being dead because it was over with at half time

What is it with this instant gratification? Modern society, I guess! Start some songs and get behind the lads, you pussy, if there's no atmosphere. Take the Leeds game in context. Our fanbase really are thick as pig.... at times. It's a season full of 23 home games, not all of them are gonna be entertaining. I appreciate there's been some poor performances, results and lots of 0-0s, but we're still unbeaten at home, 2nd and have an unbelievable record at the Turf in the Championship. A football season is a marathon not just a quick jerk-off and dopamine release!!

A win is a win at this stage. Good first half, the usual cautious second. On another day we would have scored 4 or 5. Move on.
Can't argue with your point, but move on ? Do we 'move on' after every dire performance just because we got a point,or 3. Who's going to remember any of Scott Parkers games in 20 years? The night we beat Oxford 1.0.
The excitement of watching us has disappeared for me,and a lot of others looking at the empty seats tonight. It's not just about the result at the end of the day.

Tonight wasn’t a dire performance, Saturday was dire and rightly so questions were to be asked about subs and player positions but tonight in the first half we were well worth a 4-0 lead. Second half Oxford made it tougher but we still had 3 good chances, had we of won the game 6-0 tonight it wouldn’t of flattered us at all

I can't remember many worse tbh. Absolutely no urgency even at 1-0 down. Their passes in our half was absolutely woeful.

Despite their previous form, IMO, they were one of the poorest sides I have seen at the turf this season.

Do you remember the 1-0 home win against Wycombe on 4 Dec 1999 when Payts scored in the 78th min? That was a classic in the promotion season!!!
Come on, seriously, It's a 46-game season. Not every victory is remembered. Every season is a rollercoaster. We are a product of the times and this is football nowadays. It's weird how people would prefer to be a Middlesborough type team yet arent even in the playoffs but score goals and are seemingly entertaining. But we all know you'd be complaining the loudest in such a position that we're crap at the back and can't hold onto leads. Pathetic, the lot of you complaining after tonight's game.

So you base all performances on the scoreline? You must of watched a different game if you didn’t think we were well worth going in at half time 4-0 up

We should 'have' been, but we weren't. It ended 1.0. It could 'have' easily ended 1.1.

No, it couldn't. Tell us one instance you were nervous by an Oxford chance? They had a 1st-half header from a corner, that's it. Nowhere near "EASILY COULD HAVE ENDED 1-1. Don't blame others for your own insecurities and lack of footy understanding.

You literally logged onto an internet forum to call someone you disagree with a pussy  aren’t you capable of just scrolling past something you don’t agree with?

Also no one wants instant gratification, as I said, it’s been 2 years of unenjoyable home games for the most part, no one is questioning results really.

So you're blaming SP for last year's results and performances now. hahahahahahha. That's a new one. He's only been here just over half a season for home games.

I rather think it's you who doesn't understand "footy". If you are 4.0 ahead in the 90th minute, it's highly unlikely you won't get 3 points. If you are 1.0 up, it only takes one goal for the opposition to gain a point. It really is that simple.

Play off final against sheff united was 1-0 and could ‘have’ finished 1-1, was that a dire game?

Ermmm no clearly I didn’t say that did I? I said home games haven’t been enjoyable for the last 2 seasons.

Thanks for letting me know when Scott joined.

This is more painful than watching his football though, clearly your opinion is correct and you’ll just argue with anyone who says otherwise.

I have been a member on here for longer than 6 days, I just don’t understand how you are struggling to justify how it was dire just because it finished 1-0 it doesn’t make any sense. We created enough chances to win the game 6-0, the first half was a very good performance

Read my words properly, I said you both joined within 6 days of each other in 2022. I never actually said tonight in itself was dire either, I said do we 'move on' from every dire performance just because we gained points. You cannot ignore the fact that it's very strange negativity surrounding a club in our position.
I'm struggling to explain it to my football savvy mates,2nd in the league, seemingly heading for promotion back to the so called promised land, yet I've never known so much widespread negativity towards the manager/owners whilst being in this position.
It's as simple as that.Read the comments on here with open eyes, not blinkers.

Other than the first 12 mins I thought it was a dire watch, quality in the final third was non existent but 3 points is 3 points.
'Dire'? Seems I'm offensive and can't read either! Think we need to go back to Primary school lads coz we're the ones that need educating!!

Read my words properly, I said you both joined within 6 days of each other in 2022. I never actually said tonight in itself was dire either, I said do we 'move on' from every dire performance just because we gained points. You cannot ignore the fact that it's very strange negativity surrounding a club in our position.

You didn’t say 2022, so you are now saying you don’t think tonight was dire then?
The is no need for the widespread negativity, play like we did first half tonight rest of the season and we will score goals

Try not slagging other fans off, whilst the game is on. Fans are entitled to their opinions and frustrations without being told they aren't "propper fans". Keep your "thoughts" to yourself if they're not pleasant.

Could the same not be said for "fans" thoughts on players if they aren't pleasant, or are they fair game ?

Another adding fuel to the fire, this was discussed and put to bed during the game. My comment was in response to another and deliberately phrased the same way.

It’s so ******* far from a dire performance though.

15 shots at goal, 7 on target. 4 big chances created, but not taken.

Controlled passing, switches of play, Anthony and foster attscking the full backs, Egan Riley with majestic long switches of play, Esteve like a rolls Royce hoovering everything up. Conor Roberts and Cullen prompting and probing, Laurent bursting runs and driving the team on.

Last night was good, it was interesting, they were creative. They missed huge chances, which isn’t the normal goal scoring problem, normally in poor performances they don’t create chances. If they keep creating them, they’ll score plenty. Should be looking at 2 5 goal wins in the last 4 games.

Suppose it’s true for all of us, you’ll see what you want to see.

Exactly this, its a game of opinions,we are all entitled to our own. And from reading the various posts from last night,it seems it varied from one our worst performances to one of our best. Truly,it's a funny old game.

I can't remember many worse tbh. Absolutely no urgency even at 1-0 down. Their passes in our half was absolutely woeful.

Despite their previous form, IMO, they were one of the poorest sides I have seen at the turf this season.
According to their manager they came to Turf Moor knowing that they wouldn't be allowed to play their normal style of football.

He said they were often rush

Sorry dont know what happened above??

Their manager said they were often rushed into playing the ball more quickly than they normally do because Burnley gave them no time or space in midfield.

Oxford must have something about them to be able to go on a run of 9 games without defeat.
