We desperately need 1-3 marquee signings and I am pretty sure we were all expecting that surely. Ok we don't know what the upfront money has been but 25m for Wood, 12m for Pope and 15m ? for Collins plus probably the 4 biggest earners at the club by a country mile off the books (SD, Mee, Tarks and Popey) I expected a statement. We have the youth and potential in place and that's good but now the marquee signings are required.

Barnes-10 PL goals in 3 seasons. Thats what I would have expected from Tarks, Mee or Collins. No way Barnes is going to get the goals required from a main striker. As SD would say he can be the "padding" to the forwards, so can call on him during injuries/suspensionss

He missed loads, with some massive injuries. Prior to that. 10 prem goals normal.

Interesting that O'Hare is considered marquee; I doubt many Burnley fans would've known who he was two months ago.

Zirkzee - sure, has a profile about him definitely but he has the same amount of Championship experience as a lot of the signings (none) and people believe that is the weakness of our summer recruitment so far. Also £££££.

Centre back - Harwood-Bellis is England U21 captain with two or so seasons in the Championship. May not be glitz and glamour (which centre back is?) but he's an impressive signing.

Not disagreeing about the need to be a bit stronger yet in some areas (and you won't find many more enthusiastic than me if a huge profile player comes in) but I'm not convinced it needs to be a name and I'm not as underwhelmed as some seem to be about our transfer window so far. I thought we'd bring in fewer and spend less even!

We also have Jay back fit who was out injured. These are players who almost beat the Geordies that day apart from that daft penalty.
