Also as well as the amazing satellite technology, Ukraine have millions of eyes and ears on the ground. Russians can't fart without the information getting relayed back to the military with where, who, numbers, equipment and what they had for lunch.

They haven't changed that much

If you are unprepared, untrained and don't have the required logistically support, you fail
I get that but it didn't enter my head soldiers would carry cash or bank cards with them. My Granddad signed up with nothing for instance in WW2, simply because he had knowhere to live, having had his house blown up in Liverpool.

Unfortunately, RasPutOUT stops at nothing and believes no other nation will enter the war, directly. Chemical, biological and these oxygen sucking missiles all now in action or about to be, according to US tracking movements.

RasPutOUT has got to be the most evil man on the planet, since Hitler.

US need to wake up.

All part of the "unprepared bit"

if the Russians genuinely thought they'd have to fight, then the NCOs would have checked each person to make sure they are not carrying anything that could easily identify and that they were 100% combat ready

When you look back at the pics of the destroyed convoys all lined up on streets, you have this sickening realisation that the Russians probably never even believed that Ukraine would fight, and rolled in like it was a victory parade.

No wonder their casualties are so high

Either the people that that mole works for are completely detached from reality (perfectly possible judging by the stuff coming out from various Russian embassies and diplomats) or its some devious GRU counter intelligence coup

There is no way that anyone remotely serious think Russia can do anything other than get bogged down in Ukraine, and the idea that they have troops available to threaten Poland is pure fantasy.

It looks like its all designed to get us hot and bothered in the West, and should be treated as such

IMHO of course!
I agree Lancaster, that’s why I am thinking Putin is trying to drag us in so he start using tactical nukes. He cannot win a conventional war, that become very obvious. This morning they are say Ukraine is pushing back Russian troops from north Kyiv.

More reports that the Ukrainians have cut the supply route for the Russian troops in Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel

Thats where the counter attack was yesterday, and of course, its awaiting confirmation

Confirmation in this case at a guess will be Russian troops surrendering as they run out of ammo, food and fuel (as opposed to just being short of all that)

US LPG carriers beginning the transition of Europe from Russian supplies to US supplies. Problem is not enough LPG carriers for the demand.

But this is very likely to be pernament change to where US LPG goes, and that will come in more and more over time, reducing the Russian share of the market

Long term, very bad for Russia

He has all his stuff held by other people he can rely on

I realise this is a little off subject but important all the same. Speaking to a sensible person this morning she said that while she obviously defended Ukraine she's concerned about his background and the allegations of Zelensky being a Neo-Nazi. I know Putin has been going on relentlessly about that and he could tell me it often snows in Moscow and I wouldn't believe him. But have any of you dug into these allegations concerning Zelensky?

A lot of the accusations seem to focus on Azov which has often been accused as being far-right. However, it apparently is restricted to Donbass and its role is deemed "relatively minimal" in the wider picture.

Hi elwa,

I am aware of the overall picture concerning Zelensky (I have seen various transliterations of his name but don't know which is the "official" one).

However, I am very wary about all news and politics. I feel a need to regularly check what I believe to true. As you know very well, getting to the truth concerning anything remotely political can be a Sisyphean task.

According to reports Zelensky is Jewish.

He lost family in the Nazi concentration camps.

Baltic politics is never straight forward, but I believe the only right wing government currently in power is in Serbia and what I think is telling is they have been far more reticent to cut ties with Putin, but even they are (somewhat tacitly) supporting Ukraine.

Zelensky is Jewish although apparently non-practising. He's raised his children as Orthodox. As you rightly say, Lancaster, he lost family in the Holocaust. His great-grandfather and his three brothers.

This is the obvious reason why he is livid with Israel for its stance.

Thing is, Ukraine is a fledgling democracy, not perfect, but its had elections and the losers have left power voluntarily

That is what Putin fears above all else, a democracy succeeding in an area he regards as "Russian"

And going back to the disinformation stuff, if its coming from Russian sources, then its almost certainly been tampered with to make it worthless as a source, and the key is having a variety of political follows with a wide ranging set of views so that you can sort of get a balance there

Nothing replaces actually knowing and studying and being interested in stuff though, as you can then use your own knowledge plus experts to form an opinion based on solid facts

A lot of the issues we have in the West is that people don't have the time or the inclination to have their opinions challenged, especially if they find out stuff that clashes with what they want to believe.

Democracy really struggles with that, and will continue to do so

Why don't all countries refuse to recognise Russian passports as another sanction? That would turn many against Putin as they would lose their foreign holidays to the Maldives, Thailand, Turkey, Dubai or wherever else they go on mass, and they would not like to lose that becuase of 'special military operations'!

Several calls for Russian passports to be treated like Isis owned passports, including a senior Republican think tank. It is not considered the right time to stop Russians who are fleeing to Finland and elsewhere to get away from the Putin regime.

Yeah, Kramatorsk is a heavily fortified city facing the two break away republics

That area of the war has barely moved, simply because it must just be a mass of various defence lines and the best trained (well, combat experienced) troops

Who is Igor Sushko? He claims to have access to FSB people.

He claims here there is a group of FSB people trying to contact 'the west' in order to persuade them 'to act'.

I, in my ignorance, find two things wrong with this:

1. It sounds like he is on the same side as Putin, or perhaps Zelensky, in wanting the west to intervene.

2. Putin's people are effectively told that there are dissidents in the FSB.

It makes him unbelievable.

Putin doesn't own anything, but is the wealthiest person in the world

He has all his stuff held by other people he can rely on

I reckon a lot of the oligarchs are going to do the same thing

There is a consortium bidding for Chelsea with very close links to Abramovich

Something to watch to see if people are genuinely interested in getting these people or not

Yup, looks like they are trying to hide their assets with non sanctioned relatives and friends

You can sense that the next scam will be contacts by Russian " businesses" asking can they deposit money in your account etc,no doubt people will fall for it.

Regarding moving assets to families hopefully the authorities will sanction these relations as well now they are aware.

This sort of equipment wouldn't be in the front line, and shouldn't be anywhere near the front

Does suggest that Ukraine have made gains recently

As the author of the tweet says, NATO intelligence analysts will be very keen to get their hands on that piece of kit
that's a pretty epic capture !!

I was watching two USA Blackhawks flying towards the Ukrainians border, fist one appeared to land and then went off the tracker. The second has now approached the same area but still live. I would say obviously up to something.
