Looks like there’s something in these Benson rumours then. He looks good at running with the ball, not blindingly quick though.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Where do you think cost or value comes in to play on our transfer algorithm spread sheet ?
If a player scores say 89 on the age, skill, experience etc scale and another player scores 86 but is available for 500k cheaper , is he better value ?
It is just a mystery why we are looking at similar targets but then throw one in like Ohare.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He is a wide right footed player which is a big plus for us-almost certainly a big upgrade on JBG too, and hopefully a better injury record.I see him more as a provider than scorer and when you compare his stats to McNeil of 7 goals in 147 they start looking respectable for a wide midfielder. I think if he joins it says a lot about our manager that several players have followed him abroad to BFC

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
42 games, 8 assists, 6 goals last season for Antwerp according to one of the journos on Twitter, 25 years old.
Has to be a better bet as a FIT option as opposed to Gudmundsson, and that’s surely the aim here.

that twitter exchange suggests the interest in him is straight out of VK's book and nothing to do with BFC scouting (abilities). First offer on "the desk"

Saints have signed a 19yo striker from Bordeaux. Couldn't find a fee but Newcastle, Leeds and Borussia MG were reportedly interested in him. Might take their mind from Delap.

They still only have 3 strikers and the other two are Armstrong and Adams.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 10:57 pmSaints have signed a 19yo striker from Bordeaux. Couldn't find a fee but Newcastle, Leeds and Borussia MG were reportedly interested in him. Might take their mind from Delap.
I would be worried going into the season with those three at PL level. Maybe they'll add another with more experience now instead of Delap though.

Both Newcastle and BMG were waiting for Bordeaux to go under before making a bid, so they could get the player on the cheap, whereas Southampton have made a proper offer that may actually save Bordeaux from ruin.

Also reading a report that Club Brugges want around £4m for Jack Hendry.
I think if we can get him for around 3.5m it would be good business.

I agree with that. Although KRBFC is pretty scathing
he’s an experienced player who never quite met full potential but is a full international and is only 26? Loads of room for improvement for a CH.

No idea how much he would cost but I would have loved us to sign Rob Dickie from QPR every time I have watched him he looks great.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Interesting that I saw several Oxford fans say that Luke McNally is better than Rob Dickie was for them when they sold him to QPR, and that he has a higher ceiling - time will tell, of course.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 26, 2022 8:30 amNo idea how much he would cost but I would have loved us to sign Rob Dickie from QPR every time I have watched him he looks great.

Everytime I've seen QPR play Jimmy Dunne looks a stand out player and always seemed a good prospect .But Sean's Achilles was not trusting rising stars to step up.The current model buying in players with growth potential then selling them on is a much more sustainable model .

Benson looks like a JBG replacement, left footed, plays on the right, but can use his right foot as well.

That feels harsh on a fit JBG, however sadly, a fit JBG has been all too rare for us.warksclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jul 25, 2022 8:52 pmHe is a wide right footed player which is a big plus for us-almost certainly a big upgrade on JBG too, and hopefully a better injury record.I see him more as a provider than scorer and when you compare his stats to McNeil of 7 goals in 147 they start looking respectable for a wide midfielder.
