Wouldn't mind Hannibal, thought he looked decent against us in a very poor Birmingham side 2 years ago.
Will be gutting to lose Berge, but him leaving was inevitable from the moment relegation was confirmed.

Is this now becoming a fully-fledged rumour after someone suggested him above, or do you actually know something?

Mejbri started games for Manchester United last season and then spent the second half of the season at Sevilla.
We’re in the Championship.
I don’t know if he’s the one lined up to replace Berge, but he’s got the kind of pedigree most Championship clubs would love to have and he’s still only 21.

Hanibal won’t be cheap but If its a loan to buy if promoted it may well be a good investment

Zaroury is a surprise. Didn’t you mention Benson could leave too?LongsideClaret wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 8:17 pmExpecting quite a bit of activity to happen this week. In both directions.
Chelsea lad is a done deal. Another centre half with experience (good at this level) is lined up in case O’Shea goes. McNally will go before the end of the window.
Expect Wout and Anass out imminently.
CM/AM and a winger lined up from the prem. Both young, one played champ last season, the other the season before.
I’m guessing the two from the Prem are Hannibal and Jaidon Anthony or David Brooks (prob Anthony as Brooks is injured).
Can’t say I’m enthused by Anthony but Hannibal would be a good signing I think.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I think it was inevitable that Berge would go this summer. He was our standout player last season and if he can add more aggression to his game, could become world class. The problem is that at 26, and doubtless at the very top of our wage structure, he was always unlikely to be a player we could afford to keep or to get much more than £20-25m for following relegation. Nonetheless it's another player on whom we've potentially doubled our money in 12 months and that's very respectable business.
He will need to be replaced, but we have an outstanding combination in Brownhill and Cullen who have already won promotion from this division with a huge points total and it will be fine by me if they are our first choice partnership this season. We also have Ramsey who will hopefully return mid-season and his natural skill (tall, good passer, comfortable receiving deep and carrying the ball) set means that he is arguably the most natural replacement for Berge we can realistically hope to find. In a sense, for me, the challenge is to bring in a midfielder who can replace Cork as a calm presence who can protect the back four (including in the air) and keep the ball moving simply and efficiently.

The fact we are looking at signings on loan with options after bringing in the best part of 80m in sales just shows were our finances are at

I didn't know anything about Zaroury leaving I must have missed it.....gutted
If Benson leaves as well we will need to sign some more wingers, and I thought we had too many

Only managed one goal from midfield last season and hasn't ever really scored goals at any level. Good lower end PL player but quite a way off being world class - even if he does add a bit of aggression to his game.

Zaroury not coming to a good end by all accounts, he certainly wasn’t ill at the weekend anyway by all accounts
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
The dark arts of the transfer window at play here? Burnley want Hannibal from Man U, Man U say they want Berge to drum up more interest in him and also make the club of their main target Ugarte think they have other targets in a bid to bend their arm and accept a bid.

I thought Berge’s replacement was meant to be similarly profiled (height wise)?
I have seen Hannibal play against us and I’d be surprised if he’s even 6ft tall.

Sad to see Berge to go. Our best player so inevitable really.

Hannibal would be a perfect fit for this side. He’s only 21 and has a lot of potential. Think some fans are living in dreamland if they are turning their nose up at a kid that played for Man United and Sevilla before he even turned 21.
I’d be happy with this signing in the Premier League never mind the Championship.

My point being our midfield is rather small - I’d have thought it intelligent to try to replace our only presence with height in there with someone taller than Cullen and Brownhill. Especially with one eye on promotion.agreenwood wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 8:38 pmNot many 6’5” central midfielders with Berge’s technical quality knocking about.

Is Sarmiento close to? he’s the only young winger I can think of that’s at a prem club that played in the champ last season that’s going to struggle for minutes this season

With the amount of money the club has raked in I really cannot see any justification whatsoever for Dara O’Shea to be sold now - especially at the piffling fee of £15m (compared to other fees this summer).
Very sad about Zaroury, and probably Benson - if they don’t suit Parker that is unfortunately the way it goes though.

Shame about Zaroury but I’d have major doubts about him cutting it at Premier League level.
At least this will give Parker more opportunity to bring in players that fit the way he wants to play. That was my biggest concern with him coming into a squad almost entirely inherited from Kompany.
